Description

New ‘streekbier’ from a brewing couple from Vilvoorde, the inhabitants of which are called ‘pjeirefretters’ or horse eaters due to the locally beloved horse steak dish. Thanks to tderoeck for sharing. Creamy, egg-white, cobweb-lacing, medium thick, stable head over lightly misty golden blonde beer with apricot hue. Aroma of straw, dry white bread, coriander seed, moist white pepper, bitter field flowers, grass, unripe banana, apricot. Crisp onset with very sharp, painfully numbing overcarbonation,, fruity aspects of banana and pear, restrained in sweetness with a supple, white-bready malt body spiced with dusty old coriander seed but also by grassy, bit earthy and floral hop bitterness which lasts for quite a long time, making for a drying, moderately spicy, quenching finish with some lingering green banana and white bread notes. Technically well-executed, well-hopped Belgian blonde, very decent within its style range, but – as is all too often the case in this country – dramatically lacking in originality.
