Fourgrains tripel from a brewery which also makes ’jenever’ and, since this week, whisky. Rocky, snow white, stable head, deep golden blonde colour, clear. Rye and wheat clearly noticeable, banana, soap, apple peel, young cheese, some DMS (cooked vegetables). Light fruity taste of apple with a hint of banana, smooth, malt sweetish, retronasally ruined by the DMS, mild herbal hoppiness in the finish but not really bitter. Lacks personality and they should boil the mash longer, perhaps that will eliminate the disturbing DMS effect.

Bottle from NK Saluhall. Clear red with a pink head. Sweet with artificial cherries in the aroma and taste. Slighty sour. Drinkable but it’s more like a soda.

Tap @ Jan Primus, medium sample, served in a tulip glass. Clear dark brown color, medium light brown head. Aroma of spicy yeast, chocolate, slight dark bread, caramel, toffee. Bit dry in taste, quite sweet. Dark belgian strong ale is typical what it is. Quite tasteful. Medium carbonation, medium bodied. Decent stuff, nothing outstanding.

Tasted on Tap the 14/06/2014. Golden colour with a bubbly white head. Fruity and malty aroma. The taste is dry, malty and sweet. A bit sweety and watery aftertaste. Light bodie and medium carbonation. The glass is very strange. Next one please!

Tap at the Brouwcafe, Schevenigen. Poured a clear red color with a frothy pink head. The aroma is yeast, raspberry. Rather like those boiled sweets you had as a kid. The flavour is strong sweet with a zesty raspberry fruit palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. It’s all about the fruit and a bit one dimensional. I can’t say I disliked this sweetie but I would not order a second either!

Clear orange golden colour, medium frothy white head, vanishes after a while. Shy aroma, grainy, orange peel, peach, yeast, floral hops. Medium sweet taste, slight bitterness, fruity tones with touch of acidity. Medium body, creamy to oily texture, light sweetbitter finish, light acidity, spicy tones. Odd beer, odd glass.
