Description
Winning innovator on the Belgian beer market with brands such as Maes, Cristal, Desperados, Grimbergen, Affligem, Strongbow and Mort Subite.

Maes Pils volgt in 1946.

On tap at Tap Public, pours a cloudy blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out spicy coriander, crunchy wheat and a touch of citrus zest. Flavour is dry and spicy, with coriander, soft pillowy wheat and a hint of citrus. Coriander bomb here. Nothing special but clean and competently made.

0.33l bottle thanks to Lore. Slightly hazy golden body with a white head. Aroma and taste of bready malts, sugar syrup, orange zest, apricot, pears and a tiny bit of floral hops. Pretty much how I envision a Belgian Tripel, really good example of the style. I like it.

Pours a very hazy, borderline murky, dark golden, with a pretty big (medium sized per style) compact white head. Good retention and a bit of lacing. Aroma: the slightest dough-like base followed by vivid lemony fruitiness, with quite strong spicy notes (coriander, lighter pepper). Simple, straightforward, quite potent, not by any means deep or complex. Same in the taste, with quite strong sweetness slightly cut by a hint of sourness. Overall pretty sweet as expected, but balanced by a clean, dry enough finish/aftertaste. Light to medium bodied with quite high, dense carbonation; maybe slightly heavier than i would like in a blanche. Nothing special here, a very classic/standard witbier/blanche.
