2019-07-11, draught at Darby's Gastown, 7% ABV, 8-3-8-4-17=40
Cloudy to murky blond colour with small creamy head. Strong citrus peel character, some hop resins, good body, enough bitterness, and I sense a bit of residual sugar too. A lot of character.
Excellent batch.
2017-09-23, can, 7-3-5-2-11=28
Murky yellow-orange color, small head, disappears quickly. Aroma of orange peel and yeast. It's moderately juicy, mostly orange and orange peel; it also has too much yeast, it's astringent, and in the final it has pithy bitterness.
Very chaotic and dirty.
2017-08-29, draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver, 8-2-5-1-11= 27
Murky orange-blond color, small head. The aroma is very fruity, peachy, with some sweat. The mouthfeel is chewy, chalky, very yeasty, leading to strong vegetable bitterness and final astringency.
Very dirty beer, not pleasant.
2016-11-02, draught at Callister, Vancouver, 7-3-7-4-15=36
Cloudy pale blond color. Nice aroma of fruity hops, stone fruits, lightly dank. Lean mouthfeel, light residual sweetness, the malts are a bit bready, less crisp than other Boombox pale beers, but the hopping is well done, with both bitterness and soft resins, hop oils, orange peel, and some astringency in the final, probably the oats.
Very good.

On tap at Callister, pours a cloudy golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is pretty dank, with lots of dank hops, pine, and a light toasted biscuity malt. Flavour follows with a hugely dank character on the hops, with considerable pith, and a dry biscuity malt base. Wonderfully constructed with the right balance of everything. Excellent.

Update - much like the original but a better flavour. Good upgrade. Draft - Tropical fruits and citrus notes. Cloudy orange gold with a small white head. Citrus and peel with some nice pith. Not as good as the nose, but still good.

Cask at Callister, Vancouver, gravity dispense
Not a good look, it’s murky and dull, with no head. Aroma and flavor are an explosion of citrusy and juicy hops, the mouthfeel is dry, initially not even too thin, but it gets weaker in the final. A bit astringent too. The lack of carbonation affects negatively the palate.
Questionable production method, but good result.

Draught at Callister, Vancouver
Dark purple color with small pink head. Nice aroma of elderberry juice, and cherry; sour. Good body strength; aggressive acidity, lemon juice, and evident unrestrained raspberry juice. Some lemony astringency in the final, sour blueberries. I was told that it fermented in whiskey cask, and I can’t feel that.
Precise, clean fruit Sour beer; not complex, but also very fruity, and without the flaws that plague most American sours (acetone, acetic acid, pedio...). If this were brewed by any famous American sour brewery, it would get mad reviews.

Update - one year on and this has hit its stride. Much less acidity and better balance with the fruit. Draft - Intense cherry and raspberry. Deep purple and a small white head. Tons of cherry and raspberry with a crazy jarring tartness. Outside of the extreme tart notes, very nice.

On tap at Callister, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small off-white head. Aroma is loaded with tart cherries and raspberries, with subtle wild yeast and a touch of balsamic. Flavour is huge on the tart fruit, with puckering red berries dominating, with mild acidity and some balsamic. The sourness is overwhelming, almost too much to remain elegant. Finishes puckeringly sour and bone dry. It's certainly nice but sacrifices complexity for overwhelming sourness.
