On tap at the source. Pours with a clear amber hued body with a foamy off-white head. Aromas are of citrus, pine, lightly dank, herbal. Malt character seems a bit more complex than the description claims. Nutty, pale chocolate, medium caramel. Slight co-humulone roughness. Flavors are bitter, mildly grainy, grassy caramel and pine. Still a dry finish. Lively carbonation, nicely balanced bitterness and well hidden alcohol.

Sample at GABF 10/11/2012, thanks to Bluemeow76 for assistance with note-taking. The beer pours black with a medium beige head and patches of lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate. Full-bodied with flavors of black coffee, licorice and sweet malt. The finish is roasty with a lingering mocha aftertaste. Very good stout, and my favorite beer of the day.

Aromas are bready, biscuity, grassy, orange, marmalade, mineral, nice earthy and floral hop character. Medium ester, good balance. Flavors are grainy, bready, estery, marmalade, medium low, but balanced bitterness. Medium carbonation, decently dry and a bit minerally in the finish.

6.5/10 β€” Appearance 6 Aroma 6 Flavor 6 Texture 8 Overall 7
On tap at the brewpub. Pours with a kind of milky, yellow hued body with a small white head. Pretty decent lace and retention. Aromas are grassy and carbonic, mineral in the nose as well. Grainy, mild isoamyl acetate, peppery phenol, but not strong on the 4VG. Flavors are grainy, pretty dry, some pear esters, exceptionally low isoamyl acetate, grassy, peppery, a little strong on the bitterness for my take on the style. Full bodied, grainy, medium-high carbonation. Cleanly made.

On tap at the Brewpub. Pours with a crystal clear golden hue with a giant and lasting white head with good lace. Aromas are of tropical fruit, mango, papaya, tangelo, light alcohol. Dry, floral, grassy, juicy fruit. Awesome aroma! Flavors show some perceived sweet fruit hop character, grassy, medium to low bitterness. Tropical fruit, citrus zest, clean and crisp. One of (if not) the best IPA’s that Julian has made (and he makes very impressive IPAs).
