330ml bottle [courtesy of Claudius - thanks again!]. Opalescent, orange golden colour with small to average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Mildly funky, bretty and slightly fruity hoppy aroma, pale and slightly caramel malty background, hints of white peach, a touch of lime. Taste is surprisingly sweet, pale malty, citrusy fruity hoppy and very mildly bretty, yeasty funky, hints of orange, lemon, some apricot, white peach. Slightly oily, watery texture, smooth and soft, simultaneously minimally dry palate, medium to fine, dense, soft, still efficacious carbonation. Surprisingly high residual sweetness (considering the brett), but in no way too sweet, nicely hopped and only mildly funky; nothing trying, no challenge, just an IPA with real Belgian touch - nice.

Bottle from Beer Merchants. It pours ever so slightly hazy golden - blonde with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is soft, bready malts, toasty grain, biscuit, cereal, soft stone fruits, melon, pear, grass and leafy vibes. The taste is firmly dry, muted bitterness, grassy, herbal, lemon verbena, hint of mint, dull pear, melon, candied lemon, kick of boozey boost, rawness, toasty grain and bready malt with a drying, boozey finish. Medium body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. A bit rough around the edges perhaps. Drinks alright.

First consumed pre-rating days at my first visit to Delirium Brussels in 2008. This time bottle from Beer Merchants. It pours clear deep blonde - amber with a decent fluffy white head. The aroma is quite soft, mellow, bready malts, biscuit, honey is there but fairly subdued, honey cake and touch of crunchy nut cornflakes. The taste is crisp, firmly dry, snappy, as it warms the honey comes through more, honeyed grain, cereal, honeycake, bready, warming booze and just a touch of rawness with a dry, toasty finish. Medium body and moderate fluffy carbonation. Nothing wrong with it in my opinion. Honey is there but is offset but booze. Drinks pretty well.

Manneken Pils.
