This bottle is quite rare, if you like impy IPA you need to try this. ! And......... it is the craftiest of the crafty; imperial double pale ales; how can you go wrong, it makes you catch the buzz? Call it double if you will. Its a high enough abv to keep you wandering out loud; hah. A darker pale cloudy kindah brew with a thin bubbly head. In my 603 glass, it is looking quite viscous. Smell is clean dull ipa. Big dull IPA. Taste is big dull IPA blast; aged somewhat, I think; but what do I know about this style; absolutely nothing of import, heheh. Not sure how terribly bitter beer can be a style. However, it is big and thick hoppy bitter all aver the place. Yes, hoppy happy BS, you know it, certainly after 24 hours of aging on this IPA, heheheeee. Imperial fer sher, and its quite rude too. JMHO, but doesn't aging the imperial IPA make it better? HAH! How WTF stupid?

22oz bottle, consumed last night. Poured a black color, dark brown head. Aroma was roasted, creamy malts. Light vanilla, pumpkin, light spices. Roasted malts, with some pumpkin pie. Good alternative to warlock if you want something a little creamier (and probably a touch less expensive).

Shared bottle. Pours a dark brown color, with a thin, tan head. Strong pumpkin spice aromas, with some cloves and vanilla. Sweet and no balance. Light to medium body, with a thick, creamy mouthfeel. Good spice, but nothing special.

Nice crisp copper and amber coloured body with a smallish, two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of malt, earth, alcohol, light caster sugar, a hint of caramelised sugars and a touch of oranges perhaps near the very end. Medium-bodied; Noticeable malty flavours at first with toffee and earth along with some sweetness and a bit of a deep, metallic and alcohol-laden flavour that shows some pungency and warmth near the end, with only a tiny bit of citrus noticeable. Aftertaste shows a bit more of the oranges, alcohol and earthiness, but this is relatively well hidden and only showing the malt and alcohol overtly, but the harsher flavours stay moderately hidden throughout and it still doesn’t taste like 9,0%, even though it is a bit warm. Overall, a decent enough beer, that shows much less of a fruit beer than an American Strong Ale, but good to try if it’s cheap, like what I got it for! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Costco in Pentagon City (Arlington), Virginia on 17-April-2017 for US$4,99 sampled at home in Washington on 15-August-2017.

Hazy orange and peach coloured body with a smallish, two centimetre tall off-white head with a very nice bright orange and raw honey coloured glow. Aroma of alcohol, wheat, grass, medicinal pungency and a dose of honey and caster sugar. Medium-bodied; Assertive astringent flavour with a lot of dry malt and wheat noticeable at first with a lot of pungent strawberry and grain flavours and finishing with a hit of alcohol, bitter malts and a lot of honey and unfinished sugars, all with the biting, alcohol and bitterness near the end. Aftertaste is strong and pungent with the grain, strawberry and wheat all adding to the alcohol bitterness throughout. Overall, a deep and pungent beer with a lot of strong and astringent flavours and not too many of them bright and subdued. This is strong and biting and probably best be avoided - even when the purchase is cheap! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Costco in Pentagon City (Arlington), Virginia on 12-June-2017 for US$4,29 sampled at home in Washington on 03-July-2017.

From old tasting notes. Brassy golden color. Fine bubble white head. Interesting pumpkin malt aroma with a hint of cloves. Flavorful spicy malt flavor with hints of cinnamon and allspice. Yes you can taste the pumpkin. Smooth, mild spicy finish.

Tap. Pours clear golden orange, melon off white head, good lacing. Aroma is Grapefruit and pine. Flavor is light sweet, light plus bitter, nice grapefruit and pine notes with perhaps a bit of rye spice, but it’s not strong. Medium body, soft mouthfeel. Star of the show, as it were.

Tap. Pours lightly hazy orange Amber, small off white creamy head, good residual and lacing. Aroma is bourbon, vanilla, oak, toffee. Flavor is pretty bourbon forward, vanilla notes as well. Medium sweet, bitterness has faded away. Base beer not holding up under the barrel treatment. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. Not bad, but kind of an artificial feel, like Alltech products.
