Description
The Cromarty Brewing Co is a family run business consisting of Craig, Chap and Jenni Middleton. Craig, our fanatical founding brewer studied the science of brewing at Heriot Watt University and the art of beer making in the student accommodation and flat basements. After finishing the course he went on to do some work in various breweries to gain valuable experience. It was during this time that he decided he wanted to get his own beers to market.
In the spring of 2011 construction of the brewery started on the shed works and some awesome stainless steel was ordered from Bavarian Brewery Technologies. Hectic times and long hours later led to the first of the casks rolling out on the 19th December 2011.

On keg at the Hanging Bat. Appearance - golden orange and hazy with a big fluffy wheat beer head. Nose - definitely kiwi but quite sweet so going into other fruits, such as mandarin too. Taste - itβs a smoothie with kiwi and banana. Palate - surprisingly well balanced as it has a nice tang that cuts through the sweet notes of the fruit and wheat. Good brew, Craig!

Keg at the Hanging Bat. Pours hazy yellow with a pillowy long-lasting head. Good kiwi notes amongst light banana, bread and spice. Sharp taste, tangy, and more kiwi. Tastes healthy, in a way! Really nice beer.

Beer Flight choice at the Hanging Bat, keg, one-third pint measure. Reddish brown coloured body, next to clear. Tiny layer, laces well. Fruity nose added by a touch of rhubarb. Red fruity flavours joined by grapefruit and caramel malts. Resinous bitter ending. Pretty nice, quite heavy to drink though (Edinburgh 10.08.2013).

Cask ale, half at Blue Blazer. Disappearing white tophead. Clear, pale amber coloured body. Moderate citrus nose with a resin-like touch. Fresh fruit hoppy taste joined by malty sweetness beneath. Smooth bittersweet tail, well balanced and bodied. Quite moreish stuff (Edinburgh 09.08.2013).

Cask at the Blue Blazer, shared with Stuartyboy. Good lacing from a faint, off-white head. Mahogany coloured body. Blended aromas of leafy hops and dark malts. Malty taste, mid-sweet caramel leading to a malt-fruit hoppy ending. Fine bodied. Pleasant, well crafted brew (Edinburgh 09.08.2013)

On cask @ the Stockbridge Tap. Craig has added some Sasparilla to this one. It really does lift the coffee thing into another dimension. Youβd think that it become too sickly but I was sorry in the end that Iβd gone for a half instead of a pint.
