In the spring of 2011 construction of the brewery started on the shed works and some awesome stainless steel was ordered from Bavarian Brewery Technologies. Hectic times and long hours later led to the first of the casks rolling out on the 19th December 2011.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours cloudy / murky golden - amber with a decent frothy white head. The aroma is fresh and vibrant, damp green action, weedy, herbal, sappy, pine, resin, zingy pink grapefruit, blood orange and a nip of spice. The taste is dry, firmly bitter, pithy, zesty, grapefruit, pomelo, touch of blood orange, weedy, damp herbs, plenty of pine, dank, sappy, oily, resinous and a touch of alcohol with a drying, green finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. So fresh, zingy and green. Fulsome and flavourful. Packs a lot into 6%.

Bottle from Cork & Cask. Black body with a tan head. Faint lacing. Aroma of prune, raisin, soy sauce, espresso and cherries. Flavour of umami, liquorice, Worcestershire sauce, blackcurrant and a hint of spice. Medium body with a smooth mouthfeel. Soft fizz. There’s a lot going on in this.

Can from Cork & Cask. Clear ruby body with a thick beige head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of smoked malt and raisin. Flavour of cranberry, smoked malt and rust. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. It’s good but knowing what Cromarty are capable of, I’m a little disappointed. Perhaps a touch heavy on the smoked malt.

Can thanks to Howard. Appearance - murky yellow to orange. Big fluffy, slightly off-white head. Nose - red apple and skin, orange peel and cloves. Taste - more red apple, cakey and zesty bitterness on the finish. Palate - medium bodied and lovely balanced bitterness. Overall - lovely beer, my favourite of the 4 hop showcase.
