Sampled at the Richmond Beer Industry Gathering 2006. Hazy amber body with a small white head. Strong floral hops aroma. Dry floral hops flavor with a caramel ending.

Sampled at the Richmond Beer Industry Gathering 2006. Clear dark amber body with a small white head. Sweet oak aroma. Dry caramel flavor with some oak in the ending.

Bottle. Pours a black colour with a small off-white head. Roasted malty coffee aroma. Has a think mouthfeel, with a dry malty roasted flavor. Has some hints of coffee in the flavor aswell. Dry roasted finish.

Pours deep amber with tan head. The aroma has the roasted, sweet molasses and coffee of a similar stout but also that glass of milk smell of the milk stout. The flavor hunts you down from both the sweet molasses and toffee notes to the deep roasted to burnt malts. The palate seems a bit on the thin side. Somewhere hidden in the aftertaste I sense a lactose-ness that swirls around briefly. There are some hops in there too but I’m struggling to make them out.

Orange to copper color with nice tan head. Aroma is sweet caramel malts. Flavor is a little one dimensional with sweet caramel maltiness. There’s also some pale malts and a hint of maybe citrus hops.

Slightly murky orange color with thin off white head. A rather full malt aroma of pale, grain and biscuit malts. Solid malt flavors coming from caramel, lightly roasted malts, pale malts and grain like malts. There seems to be a load of non-fermentable sweet and grainy malt sugars. The grain malts are so grainy there’s almost a husk grittiness left behind in the aftertaste. The maltiness actually seems to grow stronger as time passes. Hops are just barely noticeable and play a minor role.

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Clear ruby, average head. Aroma of sweaty hops and roasty malt. Medium bodied with clean mouthfeel. The roasty malt dominates the picture, with apricots and soapy hops simmering on top. A pleasant enough brown ale, well above average.

Bottle. Dark amber colour with a small off-white head. Dry yeasty malt aroma with some oaky hints. Sweet malty hoppy yeasty flavor, with some hints of oak. Dry fruity finish.

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Lightly hazy ruby, creamy head. Rich hoppy aroma of sweaty lychee. Despite it’s full size it feels streamlined, yet fairly soft. Warming peppery alcohol is evident. The hops are evident, but not that overpowering so it remains balanced (as far as DIPAs go), shying away from stickyness and syrup. Powerful bitterness, but due to it’s body it’s actually less striking than in the 4.3% English cask bitter I just had.
