500 ml bottle. Darkest golden almost amber with a stable head. Basement notes, caramel, stone fruit, diacetyl, grassy hops, slightly metallic. Dry metallic bitterness, fruity sweetness. Medium bodied, oily texture, soft carbonated, dry metallic fruity malty bittersweet finish. Surprisingly well made and characteristic (Bohemian?) Pilsner!

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from HOTM. Tasty after a brisk 8k. Pours slightly hazed pale gold with a fading, fizzy white head. Light-medium sweet flavour with pleasantly sugary citrus fruits, lemon, tangerine, mild tang. Light bodied with average carbonation. Sweet finish but not cloying, a little oily citrus peel, more refreshing citrus tang, pale sugar, a little bread, lemon. Highly drinkable.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from HOTM. Pours clear brown with a frothy, khaki topping. Light-medium sweet flavour with nice, well toasted brown bread, light cocoa, a nip of earth. Light bodied with average carbonation. Pretty balanced in the finish, notes of burnt sugars, roast, brown bread, a little chocolate. Tasty one.

Bottle from Eltham Wines. Dark brown pour with a beige head. Nose is toffee, raisin, plum jam, prunes, caramel, brown sugar. Taste is chocolate caramel, toffee, raisin, prunes, dried fruit. Malty sweet finish. Robust tasty brew.

Bottle online from The Trembling Madness. Pours a hazy light copper colour with a medium sized throthy white head. Aromas of grains, hay and bread. Taste has sweet grains, more hay and bread and an added mild grassy hop on the finish. Thinnish body with light fizzy carbonation. Ok but could do with more body, it’s a very watery mouthfeel. Below average Keller beer.

Bottle online from The Trembling Madness. Pours very dark brown almost black with a large thick creamy off white head. Aromas of grains, caramel, brown bread and light roasted malts. Taste has caramel, dark fruits (plums and cherries), roasted malts and toasty brown bread with hints of coffee and chocolate, also a touch of brown sugar which balances the beer out nicely with a touch of sweetness. Medium to full body, low carbonation and smooth slightly oily mouthfeel. Very decent Schwarzbier and definitely one of the best i have tried for this style.

Bottle online from Raynville Superstore. Pours a clear golden colour with a thick throthy white head. Aromas of grains, hay, bread and grass. Taste is crisp with more grains, hay, bread and fresh grassy hops on the finish. Thin to medium body, average carbonation and slightly oily mouthfeel. Nice Pils and a good example of the style.
