Tap at a Vietnamese restaurant. Dark gold, clear, with a tall, fine head. Herbal netles aroma, nasty astringent herb, rough nose. Lightly sweet, malty flavor, citrus and herbs, but not netles, very little of the nastiness. Bitter, tannic finish. What did they put in this, and why is it mostly in the nose?

Can, 0.50l, courtesy of Petter. Aroma is grainy, grassy, papery and mild citrusy. Appearance 3 Pours clear dark golden color with medium sized soapy white head and sparkling appearance. Taste starts light sweet grainy, following is herbal, very mild fruity, medicinal, mouthfeel is dry, while finish is bitter. Medium body, slick texture and average carbonation in palate. Classic “can’t miss with it” Czech pilsener...

Točené (Šalamda, Hl.n. Praha): Clear, golden, medium-sized creamy white head with a nice lacework, moderate dryish bitter-sweet nose of grains and grassy hops; dry and a bit tart bitter flavour, malty base hardly detectable, not overly soft, pretty light bodied; dry bitter finish. More a Dutch than a Bohemian Pilsener…

Točené (Šalanda, Praha, Hlavní nadráží): Deep golden, cloudy, lacy white head, mild grainy-bitter nose with fruity traces of yeast; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, quite light bodied and a bit fizzy; lingering bitter-sweet finish. Not too bad, but has unfortunately got more a German than a Bohemian taste...

Tap at Šalanda, Prague Central. Hazy golden color with white head. Aroma is bready, a bit farty yeast, quite juicy, a touch noble hops. Taste is bready, a bit farty yeast, pale malts, juicy, bitter leafy finish. Juicy mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Quite alright, I expected worse from a main train station beer.
