Crystal clear golden color with big bubble off white head. Classic sweet pilsner aroma with a bit of acidity. Flavor is nice. The malts aren’t too sweet and the hops are strong enough to compete. Leaves a lingering bitter tartness or maybe acidic taste. Just enough body to avoid being watery.

Pours dark amber in color with virtually no head. I smell just a little bit of yeast and the lightest hint of malt in the aroma and nothing else. It has a light caramel flavor from the malt, slightly dryer grain malt and just a small amount of hops. It is light in body and is also a little watery. Overall the flavor is on the light side for a Swarzbeir compare to some I’ve tried in Germany. Maybe the bottle states it is a light beer in Czech and I just can’t read it.

Bottle 0,5l. Golden colour. A huge head. Very carbonated. Some aroma of hay. Leaves a rounded impression with a sweet bitter aftertaste. A bit "heavy". KI=2

500ml bottle (bb.22.08.2006). Golden colour. Thick white head that gives some noise when withdrawing. Poor in aroma, but some malt can be detected. Medium bodied with taste of light hop bitterness and weak hints of caramel sweetness. Soft carbonated and quite refreshing.

0.5l can. Had this warmer than normal, so I might rerate it. Very dark brown/red colour, very big fluffy tan head. Malty and caramelly aroma, with hints of black bread. Caramelish malt owns the taste, with hints of raisins, which turns out to be nice, with some nice interplay with a roasty/ashyburnt end. Very light hopiness. Unfortunately, the slight wateriness, some acidity and an obvious metallic taste, ruin what might be quite a nice beer. Could be worse, but it’s still a bit of a letdown.

Pour is a bright golden with a average white head, Aroma is non-existant. Nothing really there and could be water for all I know. Flavor is bitter with not much else to help it. This is not a Bohemian pilsner and i would consider this a pale lager at best, a very poor pale lager.

Pour is a very dark red when held up to light with a nice sized tan head. Aroma is burnt smokyness and is nice when taking that first whiff. Flavor is where this one loses everything. Very watery and thin. So much so you get nothing, im sure there are hops and malts in here somewhere but damn if I can find them. Looks good and smells good but downhill after that.

0.5l draft in some pub in Zagreb, possibly the only place that has it in Croatia. Pretty golden colour with lively streams of carbonation and a firm, thick white head that left thick lacking. Nice. Good Saazy nose, slightly acidic, lemony, dusty, a tad malty too. The taste is nice too, hops dominate this one, lemony, acidic (maybe a tad too acidic for the style, but very pleasant anyway). Malt takes the back seet in this one, but it’s there, making a light, but still pleasant background. Herbal, bitter aftertaste. A nice, simple, hoppy pils that has its subleties.

Draught at Restaurace U Lisku in Prague, May 2006. Dark red brown color, beige head. Malty and burnt scent. Sweet and a bit burnt taste. Medium bitterness, perhaps a bit higher than a "normal" dark lager. Medium to big body. Refreshing feel in the aftertaste. A very nice dark lager taht I try to drink when available on tap in Prague.Earlier Rating: 4/22/2006 Total Score: 3.3A "Böhmischen Schwarzbier" specially brewed by Královsky Pivovar for the Swedish market.A beer sold in a Swedish store other than "Systembolaget" may have max 3.5% alcohol in it.Bottle from a local supermarket (Hemköp).Verk dark red, beautiful ruby.
