Description
Artzner craft beer has a very long history. It dates back over two centuries. In 1882 to be exact, Pierre Hoeffel founded brewery Perle in Schiltigheim. In 1919: Charles Kleinknecht, brewing engineer, took over the brewery and in 1930, a new brewery was built. Just before the Second World War, production reached 300,000 hectoliters. In 1971, the brewery was closed and the buildings were demolished in the 1980s.
In 2009, Christian Artzner, great-great-grandson of the founder, paid his greatest tribute to this beer by bringing it back to life. In 2015, the Perle brewery officially opened in Strasbourg, at the Plaine des Bouchers, with a brand new production facility and beers "made in Alsace"

330ml bottle bought almost two years ago at the excellent beer shop Village De La Biere in Strasbourg. A clear yellow-gold body, remaining filmy layer. Scattered lacing. Smell of bittersweet grapes and herbs. Riesling grapes to the taste buds added by herbs and apples. Half-dry and sweet ending. Something else and actually quite alright (shared with Finn and djoeye, Tromsø 19.05.2016).

Bottle at home. Hazy light golden with short lasting white head. Dusty grains, light grassy, a hint of tropical fruits, dough, crackers, light metallic notes towards the finish. Light sweet with a weird light chemical bitter finish. Light bodied. One of the weaker Perle beers.

Flaška(děkuji pěkné, pane učitele!):Amber coloured, floaties visible, big firm and creamy and stable off-white head; sweet vinous and fruity nose, dark malt, spices and hoppy traces in the background - label claims ginger and grains of paradise; solid sweet-bitter flavour, full bodied; lingering sweet--bitter caramelly-fruity finish with an illusion of dried berries; astonishingly dry and hoppy in the aftertaste. At first sight a sweet and sticky brew, but all in all just a powerful beer, that is well balanced…

Bottle at home. Murky amber with lots of beige clumps floating around even though I poured carefully and the beer was in my fridge for two weeks. Nice off white head though. Caramel, dried mango, lemon, lime, mixed fruit juice, pomegranate, light biscuits, toffee, vanilla cake. Under medium sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with some juicy feel. Not a typical IPA but not that bad, apart from the looks.
