Description
Artzner craft beer has a very long history. It dates back over two centuries. In 1882 to be exact, Pierre Hoeffel founded brewery Perle in Schiltigheim. In 1919: Charles Kleinknecht, brewing engineer, took over the brewery and in 1930, a new brewery was built. Just before the Second World War, production reached 300,000 hectoliters. In 1971, the brewery was closed and the buildings were demolished in the 1980s.
In 2009, Christian Artzner, great-great-grandson of the founder, paid his greatest tribute to this beer by bringing it back to life. In 2015, the Perle brewery officially opened in Strasbourg, at the Plaine des Bouchers, with a brand new production facility and beers "made in Alsace"

Draught at La Fine Mousse, Paris
Hazy dark amber color with some red reflex. Delicate aroma of malt and spices. The flavor is a bit more vulgar, some dry caramel and malt with a dusty note, ending with darker caramelized sugars; correct bitterness. It doesn’t really show the promised fruity ingredients or the vanilla.

bottle with many thanks to jaghana! Hazy golden-brwnish colour, mid-sized, creamy off-white head. Highly unusual but pleasant aroma of grapes, raisins, very earthy. Good malty base, perhaps slightly sticky, biscuit-like, not too sweet, with lots of grapes and raisins again, also earthy notes and a shy touch of resiny hops. Like a hybrid of beer and wine, this ber has a very vinous character. Very unusual and really, really good. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

bottle, merci beaucoup, Pascal! Almost clear golden yellow, mid-sized white head. Lovely fruity-resiny hop aroma. Medium-bodied, good malty base for such lovely hops. ints of tropical fruit, greassy and resiny, resminds me slightly of Nelson Sauvin hops, but with more bitterness and slightly less tropical fruit. A very, very nice beer!

Full bodied, spicy, gingery, not sweet. Well balanced. Alcohol well hidden, lots of floral notes. Not massive depths, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Bottled. A light golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma has notes of wheat, malt, and lemons. The flavor is sweet with notes of hay, lemons, and malt, leading to a bitter finish. The body is light.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of jaghana. Pours a clear yellow with a white head leaving a discreet lacework. Slightly buttery, fruity nose. Light body, subtle fruit, subtle malt with a whiff of metal. Dryish and lightly bitter finish. Very forgettable. 290512
