Description
Artzner craft beer has a very long history. It dates back over two centuries. In 1882 to be exact, Pierre Hoeffel founded brewery Perle in Schiltigheim. In 1919: Charles Kleinknecht, brewing engineer, took over the brewery and in 1930, a new brewery was built. Just before the Second World War, production reached 300,000 hectoliters. In 1971, the brewery was closed and the buildings were demolished in the 1980s.
In 2009, Christian Artzner, great-great-grandson of the founder, paid his greatest tribute to this beer by bringing it back to life. In 2015, the Perle brewery officially opened in Strasbourg, at the Plaine des Bouchers, with a brand new production facility and beers "made in Alsace"

8/II/25 - 33cl bottle from La Bièrerie (Illkirch, Strasbourg, FR), shared with Benzai @ home, BB: X/2033 (2025-125)
Clear dark brown to black beer, small creamy beige head, a little stable, adhesive. Aroma: very malty, grains, cow fodder, a bit yeasty, good roast, some banana, chocolate notes, a hint of coffee, nice! MF: ok carbon, medium to full body, creamy texture. Taste: good, very malty start, grains, pretty bitter, very roasted, coffee, cocoa powder. Aftertaste: bitter, hoppy, alcohol, a bit yeasty, dry, chocolate, very roasted, slightly metallic, very old school English RIS, and I like it!

Bottle shared by TdeRoeck. Opaque black color, no head. Aroma is malts, roast, light coffee and light chocolate. Flavor is almost identical. Maybe some more roast dominant in the flavor than the aroma, malt bitter and a firm chocolate roast bitter finish. Full body, medium to full carbonation. Very good.
