Draft at Churchkey. Poured a dark ruby red color with a small almost grey color. Aroma was certainly rye, spice, malts. Flavor had some spicy notes of rye, malts were good. A bit overpowering, but still refreshing,

Draft at the source. Completely black color, beige head. Aroma of vanilla, dark cocoa, espresso. Taste is rich vanilla, burnt coffee, licorice, dark fruit. The barrel is present but in the background, so it doesn’t overwhelm. Definitely a big beer, but very drinkable.

On cask at Meridian Pint. Pours a hazy, dark orange with some cloudy, white head. Nose is interesting, strong hop aromas, orange, grapefruit, pine, strong fruit too, light booze, a little wood pulp. Flavor is also quite interesting, malty, woody, some light spice, some booze, some fruit, strong citrus. Full, sticky finish.

10oz pour at Meridian Pint. Pours a hazy golden amber with some lacing, cloudy white head. Nose is really solid, grapefruit pulp, orange pulp, a little candied lemon peel, malt too, a touch of caramel, pine cones, grass. Flavor is sweet and citrusy without being overpowering, pine, a little soap, some grapefruit, orange, malt, grass. Medium, dry, refreshing finish. Easily my favorite base beer of theirs.

Cask at Meridian Pint. Poured a cloudy orange color with a small white head. Aroma was light mangoes, with notes of light pleasant vanilla. Flavor had the malts and hops relatively balanced, some rough edges around the barrel, rum spice lightly in there.
