Description
The Artisanal Brewery of Sabaudia, nicknamed Brasserie BAS, was founded in 2005 by a passionate brewer. On the occasion of his birthday, Tony De Oliveira receives a 20 liter brewing kit as a gift. The story begins like this, from a brewing kit to a craft brewery that now produces 3000 liters per brew. Very attached to the land of Savoy and its traditions, he decided to name the brewery by the old term Sabaudia designating the land of fir trees, Savoy during the Middle Ages. BAS beers are designed respecting traditional manufacturing processes: From crushing to bottling. In the heart of Savoy, between lake and mountain, the BAS brewery is housed in a building steeped in history, a former lignite factory.

Bottled 750ml. -Dark amber (almost brown) coloured, small pale beige head, pretty intensive spicy nose. Spicy Speculaas cookies taste which totally takes over all other characteristics. Hint of Alpine herbs in the finish. One-dimensional.

Bottled 330ml. -Brown coloured, small to medium sized off-white head that went away slowly, roasty nose. Roasted malt (slightly vinous), coffee and light nutty taste. Unfortunately quite watery finish. Better than other two from small bottles but still quite average.

Clear red brown beer, small aery white head, unstable, dissipates pretty fast, non adhesive. Aroma: nutmeg, overripe fruits, caramel, star anise, liquorish, something rotten, nasty. MF: ok carbon, light body. Taste: mocha and dark chocolate at first, then overripe fruits, a nasty bitterness, some liquorish. Aftertaste: mocha, bit nutty, rotten frtuis, bitter banana peel, mocha, touch of coffee. Didn't like, didn't finish. Pretty bad.

Clear pale yellow beer, small white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: vegetables, pickles, lemon, honey. Smells infected. MF: too much carbon, light body. Taste: lots of citrus (could be the CO2 though), lemon, bitter, little fruity. Not as bad as expected from the horrible aroma. Aftertaste: plain bitterness like a regular lager.
