2004 draught at the MBGSBF. Pours a bright and very deep cherry red, thick and heavy looking with little to no head. Aroma of sharp acidic fruits, vigorously swirling around and challenging the senses asking, "Am I really a beer??" Flavor begins with a mixture of dark berry fruits, ripe red fruits and vinegary, almost vinous fruits. It is not overly sweet, which is impressive, has almost no trace of alcohol and is pretty tasty as far as fruit is concerned, with some nice tart flavors towards the finish. But the buck seems to stop there, at least for me, as this one didnt get past the fruit. Little can I find here that resembles beer, maybe a touch of graininess from the barley, but it’s only passing and provides so little texture. Unfortunately, the beer has almost no carbonation, and this is not a good thing with huge fruit beers, because it comes off as a fruit juice. The body is very loose and lightly watery. Give me a good amount of more grains, some more yeast and carbonation and I would be much happier. Interesting attempt though.
