Draft - Dark roast with nice grapefruit hops to balance. Jet black with a rich beige head. Lots of roast with the grapefruit and hops coming through to balance. Very nice with the hops playing lead, alcohol is not there so a dangerous beer at such a high ABV.

Growler shared at the 8th Richmond Industry Gathering, 12/1/13. Pours a clear amber color with a thin frothy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of earthy, resin hops and mild pale malts. The taste is floral, citrus and earthy hops. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness.

Sample from a bottle at Ratebeer Gallery II. Pours cloudy deep amber with a small off-white head and decent lacing. Aroma is very spicy, oranges, pumpkin spices (allspice, clove), bourbon, oak, molasses. Flavor is the same, very spiced, too spiced. Medium sweet and a light zesty bitterness with some barrel astringence. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. Not for me.

Bottle poured at Ratebeer Gallery II. Pours cloudy pale yellow with a small white head that dissipates leaving decent lacing. Aroma is fairly light with notes of Brett, horse blanket, lemon, frut. Flavor is also light, light sweet, light funky, a bit fruity and clean in very regard. Light bodied. Nice and simple. Did not blow me away, but this would be something I would grab as a thirst quencher any day.

Sample from growler at the Beers from the Bikes Villes tasting on 11/08/2013. Pours a slightly hazy orange-gold color with a medium off-white head that diminishes gradually. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, citrus and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of grapefruity hops, pine and toasted malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a resiny hops aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

Sample from growler at the Beers from the Bikes Villes tasting on 11/08/2013. The beer is an amber-orange color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily to a wispy film. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of grainy malt, caramel and fruit. Light to medium body with flavors of caramel malt, spices and fruit. The finish is sweet with a spicy yeast and fruit aftertaste. Not sure if this beer is supposed to replicate the taste of its namesake but I am not getting it if so. Either way a decent Saison.
