Bottle shared by Craftmember. The original Veluwse Schavuyt, with thick, egg-white, moussy and dense head, colour clear warm amberish copper with quiet sparkling. Aroma of honey (apparently effectively used here), cookie dough, cornbread, wet cloth, dried flowers, white grapes, some iron, cake. Clean, smooth onset, honeyish, very caramelly with a toasted accent, pretty straightforwardly malty with continuing honeyish sweetness but low in esters (almost reminiscent of a sweet malty lager), some subtle grassy hop bitterishness in the end, somewhat thin body. Needs more yeastiness and body to be a truly good honey ale, I think, but still fairly enjoyable in a simple way.

Aroma has sweet apricot tones and some licorice(!) Also toffee typical to English ales. Flavour has the same toffee, but a lot stronger. Also some apricot. Finishes with some menthol-like lingering hoppiness. A Dutch PA too sweet.

Iets over de tht (3mnd) is voor een bock iets minder van belang. Caramelbruin met beperkte kraag. Aroma is uitstekend;hout, mout, aards, caramel, geroosterd, drop.
