Dunkler, trocken malziger Beginn. Kräuternoten sind hinter dem Malz erkennbar, das den Geschmack aber auch im Mittelteil dominiert. Erkennbarer, nicht störender Alkohol, Nuancen von Schokolade. Langer weicher Nachgeschmack. Gut! 12/10/11/11/12/11

Pours unclear, blondeamber. Small white head. Smell is bit bitter, some hoparoma. Taste is nu nicely bitter, aromatic hopped, crispy malts. Very refreshing, full taste. Nice one !

Tap. Moeder Lambic Original. Hazy, dark cola brown. Thin, lacing, lasting, beige head. Nose has mellow pine. Some char. Bruleed grapefruit. Light chocolate malts. Taste is light, grapefruit bitter. Some fruit sweetness. Smooth mouthfeel. Bit of zesty tang. Light bitter finish, with some sweetness on the lips hanging around.

Dunkler, süß-säuerlich hopfiger Antrunk. Mit der Zeit bitterer, grasig, moderate Röstigkeit. Die Hopfigkeit steigt, frisch, karamellige Noten. Süßlich. Mittellanger hopfiger Nachgeschmack. Gut. 11/9/10/10/11/11

Appearance: Clear amber, some off-white head. Sediments at the bottom of bottle.
Aroma: Hops and fruit, citrus.
Taste: Quite a bit of hops, also medium fruits and malt. Good balance. IPA-like.

*Bottle from Bierzwerg in Greven. Nice roasted floral brew. Deep with a nice rye characteristic. Dry, fresh, hints of sticky sweetness. Nice.

Fruchtig herber Hopfenantrunk mit weicher aber leicht erhöhter Karbonisierung. Noten von Mandarine und Grapefruit, zum Ende schwächer, dennoch würzig, etwas zu trocken. Gut. 10/11/10/8/12/11

Heller, süß hefiger Antrunk. Die Hefigkeit steigt dabei deutlich an, bananig, milde Kräuternoten. Hopfige Noten bleiben dabei erstaunlich lange im Hintergrund und auch sonst eher schwach, keine Herbe. Okay. 10/9/8/8//9

From tap at Barboteur in Brussels. Loosely structured, off-white, bubbly but relatively stable head, cloudy yellow blonde robe with slightly greenish hue. Aroma of lemon zest, star fruit, lime juice, a touch of ’old hops urine’ but not disturbingly so, soggy white bread, butter, red apple peel, lemongrass. Soft fruity onset, hints of gooseberry, pear and passion fruit, gently sourish effect accentuated by the wheat, somewhat fizzy mouthfeel, tad bready in the middle but generally speaking light and gracious on the tongue, ending in an aromatic hoppiness with hints of green banana and lime peel retronasally, without becoming deeply bittering. A true American style wheat ale I’d say, showcasing the delicate fragrance of American hops without stressing their bitterness at all, and in that sense far removed from ’white IPA’ which I at first expected it to be; lovely, delicate, aromatic summer quencher. This is among the better beers I had from France so far and I think we are going to hear a lot more from this brewery in the future. France is gradually and slowly developing a beer identity departing from the bière de garde and other Belgian-ish ale traditions in the north - makes me wonder what kind of beers may come out of this in coming years, especially when they start applying their ancient wine know-how to them, as Italy has done. If they were able to make wine as great as it is, it really fascinates me what they could be capable of in terms of beer, especially since home brewing is becoming a popular activity there. I’m on the lookout for more Sainte Crucienne beers, that much is certain.
