2009 re-taste. I returned to Cambodia in 2009. I didn’t re-rate this beer but I should have. Cambrew has downgraded Angkor Stout and upgraded Black Panther. I would have scored this around 3.7-3.9, and it was the best stout in the country at that point in time.

Almost black with a whisp of light brown head. Aroma is light, faintly grainy with a hint of roast. Thick creamy body with hint of sweet, milky coffee and burnt raisins. Simplistic palate. Creamy, burnt finish. My beer of choice in Cambodia! 5-4-6-3-13 = 3.1

Hazy yellow colour. Fairly neutral aroma - hint of grain. Slightly wet palate. Grainy taste but little flavour overall. Ridiculously quick finish.

2009 re-taste. I returned to Cambodia in 2009 and while I didn’t re-rate this beer I probably should have. I think it was clearly a step below its former standards, probably in the 3.1-3.3 range.

Bottled, Siem Reap

Very dark brown with a rich mocha head. Devil’s food stout with visions of sugarplums dancing in my nose. Burnt raisins for all with a cherry on top. Big, thick, Zywiec Porter body with roasted bitterness, intense dark chocolate, fruits burned to charcoal. Balanced with a kiss of demerara. As beautiful and mysterious as its namesake. If only I could say the same about Bayon Beer. 8-4-8-4-17 = 4.1
