About
Great Notion Brewing is a project started by three friends; Andy Miller, James Dugan, and Paul Reiter. All three guys met each other out of coincidence, they live on the same street in North Portland. Andy and James met each other while home brewing in 2010, and began developing recipes and building a friendship. Together they have 25 years of brewing experience with medals in the National Homebrew Competition for fruit lambic and Double IPA. Paul Reiter has a degree in business and finance with a focus on start-ups and creative enterprise . In April of 2014, the boys finally got together and shared some home brew. On this night they enjoyed a Stout with hand smoked Vienna malt, a 3 year old Peach Sour, and a 10% double IPA. It’s fair to say, on this night, Great Notion Brewing was born.

Crowler. Creamy, floury nose, Mosaic juice, pineapple. Cloudy gold. flavor is a bit of cracker, grapefruit, pineapple. Juicy, tasty fruits. Low carbonation. Silky. Good.

Crowler from Red. Says 6% on the can... very cloudy golden orange with lace. Juicy Mosaic nose, tropical fruit, mango, papaya, dank, orange, grapefuit. Low malt. Sweet and juicy, orange-mango-papaa juice with a bit of malt. Like it, but does it taste like beer? Bit of cracker, honey, biscuit. Touch of hop spiciness and pepper. Very tasty, but A little too much just like fruit juice for me to really appreciate it. Quite sweet as well.

Crowler thanks to Savada. Pours black with medium tan head that lasts. The aroma is milk chocolate, peanuts, roast. Thick, chewy, nice peanut butter, milk chocolate, very sweet, enjoyed this.

On draft at RB Best. Not an imperial at 10%? It pours a dark brown color. The aroma has maple syrup with some smoke and roasted malt. The flavor is the same with some coffee, maple syrup, smoke and roast in the finish. Light acidity. Weaker body than expected, but the flavors were all there.

Draft at RB Best. It pours a hazy yellow color with a white head. The aroma has mango and some spicy hops. The flavor has a good balance of spicy hops and mango, peach, passionfruit. Complex fruity hop profile. Tasty.

Crowler @ RateBeer Best 2017 Bottle Share. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty chocolate peanut butter aroma. Roasted malty peanut butter flavor. Has a roasted malty peanut butter chocolate finish.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear yellow color with a medium white head. A nice smooth light citrus nose. Lemons, very funky, lots of carb, some funky earthy notes. Very smooth and easy drinking.

From tap at Ratebeer Best festival, Santa Rosa. ABV is 10% according to their blackboard. Dark brown almost black color with smal beige brown head that disappears. Malty aroma, roasted, chocolate, coffee, caramel, maple, dark dried fruits, wood, alcohol. Heavy sweet and light bitter taste. Medium silky oily body with soft carbonation.
