Hazy amber. Fresh biscuity, slightly toasty malt nose. Sweet fresh malt, not much hop, mild bitterness. Ok malts but could do with more expressive aroma hopping.

Cloudy dull tan. Light phenol, yeasty taste, bubblegum and other phenols inappropriate for this type of beer. Esters are ok, strong phenols and cloying sugars are a sign of too-high fermentation.

Cloudy, thin head, aroma has some biscuity malt, and that character dominates. There’s a lot of bitterness, it’s a bit harsh but it seems like something the brewer should be able to dial in.

Cloudy, yellow. Lemon syrup, citric acid, mild pale malts. Tart, but simple. Would actually like to revisit on a hotter day after a longer ride.

On tap at Strathcona, pours a cloudy orange amber with a small white head. Aroma is very restrained, with only a hint of floral hops with a British character. Flavour is more pronounced, with a definite British hoppy character dominating in a very pleasant way. Quite dry, with a pleasant floral finish. Nicely done for what it is.

On tap at Strathcona, pours a cloudy bright yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out fairly subdued lemonade notes, with a light citric sharpness. Flavour is very citric and almost completely lacking in sweetness, with almost nothing but tangy, acidic lemon juice. Unusual for a radler, with such a low sweetness and a highly ascorbic finish. Not too good.

On tap at Strathcona, pours a cloudy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out light floral notes, subdued Belgian yeast, and a dry biscuity quality. Flavour is unmistakably Belgian, with lots of Belgian yeast, light fruity esters and finishing pronouncedly floral. Clean and well-balanced, with a dry finish. Quite a nice one.

On tap at Strathcona, pours a cloudy golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out light dry piney hops and crisp crackery malt in a pretty restrained way but good balance. Flavour is very subdued but clean, with restrained dry hopping and a bone dry biscuity malt backbone. Finishes with a fairly aggressive but unobtrusive astringency. Solid but tame.

On tap at Strathcona, pours a dark reddish brown with a small beige head. Nose brings out dry cocoa powder, roasted British malt, and some dusty earthy notes. Flavour is along the same lines, with earthy notes, dry bitter cocoa powder and toasted British malt. Brewed true to style, with a good earthy, toasted quality that makes it more robust than the average mild. Very nice.

Draught at the brewery
Dark brown color, clean. Bread and caramel, reasonably robust for a mild, but still a bit metallic, maybe some lack of maturation.
