Pour is a thick maple syrup looking brown with a small tan head. Aroma is a big leathery caramel malt with brown sugar notes all over. Flavor is liquid tootsie-roll, a bit sweet caramel with some molasses and burnt sugar. Finish is sweet and a bit of alcohol. This was a big and heavy beer with lots of flavor. A winter warmer for sure.

Taste at the Stanley Beer Hall. Pours black, with a medium, bubbly, gray head. The nose is harsh coffee, cinnamon, pine, chalk, and almonds. Sweet and malty, with a mild, sticky bitterness. Balanced yet aggressive. Nice.

Draft at Trails End Taproom in Colorado Springs, CO. Clear light gold color with a white head. Tastes like a mix of a cream ale and a rauchbier. I like the blend of smoke and cream.

Taste at Trail's End. Pours black, with a small, foamy, beige head. The aroma is black bread, pine, some cherry, caramel, and licorice. Sweet and yeasty, with a bit of a sharp bitterness. Mellow roast, nice balance.
