clear darker golden colour, one inch of creamy ecru-ish white head, which lasts for several minutes; aroma and taste of malty-syrupy, apple, maybe some apricot and alcoholic notes; not that bad as expected based on the ABV and style

A new Gordon Xplosion - one can wonder why, but apparently this series is successful enough to be continued by Anthony Martin... This one is flavoured with apple and blueberry. Can from a Carrefour supermarket. Thick and moussy, egg-white, shred-lacing, pillowy and very stable head, misty amber robe with vague ruddy-brownish tinge. Aroma of candyfloss, red Haribo candy, industrial apple juice of the worst possible quality, red lemonade (the blueberry element I guess), apple-scented air freshener, children's tooth paste with fruit flavour, bubblegum, cheap wodka, methylated spirits. Sugary onset in an awfully tooth-cloying way, red candy and apple shampoo, fizzy carb, slick body; an artificial sourish element runs underneath, coming from the added industrial citric acid. Slight metallic edges round a thin, empty and adjunct-laden cerealliness, some pale malt but largely replaced with sugars, and then this granulated sugar sweetness, apple shampoo effect and lemonade citric acidity are all that remains, except for a chemical, wry bitterness suddenly popping up in the end, as if methylated spirits were poured in, saving the best for last with a burning booze... The sugars grate the enamel from my teeth and as usual with this series, that chemical wryness and sharp booze make me worry about losing my eyesight after three sips of this infernal liquid. Another lovely addition to this dreadful series, scraping the very bottom of what beer can be at its worst; the guy who keeps inventing these Xplosions should formally be denied access to all places beer-related. Terrible as expected - though admittedly perhaps a tad less so than the very worst in this series - and immediate drain pour.

On tap at Craft Beer Oasis, Crewe. Pours a dark ruby red with an ample cream head. Aroma is restrained, but dark fruits and caramel can be determined. Lots happening in the mouth though. Plenty of dark fruits, cake, molasses, roast malts, and spices. Plus traces of plums and cherries. Sweet on the tongue, but sharp in the throat. An excellent spiced winter beer.

Tripel in this hypercommercial Gordon series (might well be Dominicus Tripel for all I know) allegedly aged in oak barrels - another big one trying to cash in on popular tendencies in the craft beer market. Medium thick, snow white, moussy, slowly opening and thinning head on a misty golden blonde beer with pale beige-ish tinge. Aroma of banana-flavoured chewing gum, industrial apple juice, soap, breakfast cereals, vanilla-like oak wood indeed but not very strongly so, some very faint wood even, urinal cake, wodka, honey, lavender perfume. Sweet onset, white candi sugar mixed with very strong banana ester, something sweet apple-like too, very bubblegummy with sharply prickling carbonation; slick body, cereally pale maltiness sweetened and 'pumped up' by white candi sugariness, leading to a retronasal vanilla-like 'perfume' and strong soapiness; vague grassy hops in the background are unable to counter the sweetness, while wood tannins remain on a microscopic level and instead a calvados-like booziness takes over, warming but luckily not becoming overly astringent. Sweet banana ester, the 'core' of this beer's flavour profile, remains dominant. Weirdly soapy and perfumey, very sweet and feeling 'empty' and industrial, but somehow a bit less worse than I had feared from this usually dreadful series. And as always with this company, one should wonder where it is actually brewed; Swinkels in the Netherlands seems the most likely candidate here. Cheap industrial, sweet and boozy 'macro beer', but admittedly not the worst in this series - perhaps even the best on the market right now.

Bottle from Drinks Vanuxeem, Ploegsteert, Belgium. Pours a hazy chestnut brown with a reddish hue with a large foamy off white head. Faint aromas of dry dark fruits, caramel and toasty brown bread. Taste has lots of dark fruits, berries, plums, caramel, fruit cake, brown bread, some brown sugar and also some roasted malts on the finish. Very nice balance between fruity, roasty and sweet. Medium to full body with low carbonation and smooth mouthfeel. Excellent beer and very Christmasy.

KYGG 061121. Golden color with a white head. Aroma is fruit, malt, alcohol,caramel. Flavor is fruit, malt, alcohol, oxidation, caramel, sugar. Too boozy.

clear golden colour, moderate sized dense white head; aroma of apple, pear and grainy-malty notes; taate of syrupy sweetness with fruity and slight metallic notes, as well as alcoholic aftertaste; not really good ( as expected considering the extreme ABV for a lager) but at least drinkable

0,5l can from Cora. F: big, egg-white, long lasting. C: amber to coppery, bit hazy. A: artificial apple, apple juice, sweet artificial blueberries, bit caramel. T: full malty base, strange vinous apples, artificial blueberries, alcohol, caramel, medium carbonation, crazy thing this may it would help your hitchhiker trip to galaxy.

Oranje kleurig bier met schuim wat snel wegzakt. Smaak is bitter hoppig en fruitig met iets van rozijn, wat mango en citrus waar verrassend ook iets van karamel in doorkomt.
