tap at the brewery - Pours black with a tan head that leaves heavy lacing. It smells of coffee and dark roast malt. This full bodied brew has good dark roast malt with a solid, balancing bitterness. Quite enjoyable.

draft at the brewery - Pours cloudy straw colored with a small white head. It smells of spicy yeast and mild wheat. The flavor is similar but also has something quite off about it. I’m getting a band aid characteristic that really doesn’t work. It’s light bodied and mildly bitter. I can’t recommend it though. They also had a version of this beer with lemon grass added. The grass was very subdued and it was hard to tell the difference between the beers with and without lemon grass.

On draught at Heorot in Muncie, IN. The beer is a hazy dark amber color with a medium foamy beige head that diminishes steadily. Sticky rings of lacing on the glass. Hoppy aroma that has piney and malty notes. Medium body with a somewhat astringent hops character that has resiny and piney qualities. Some sweet malt in the background. The finish is hoppy with a lingering bitterness left behind. Decent IPA overall.

draft sample at Indiana winterfest - Pours hazy copper with a white head. There’s some caramel malt in the aroma along with hops. This medium bodied brew is well balanced and has considerably more hops bitterness than most ambers. I definitely liked it.

draft sample at Indiana winterfest - Pours pale gold with a white head and smells of bready malt and hops with a light touch of citrus. The hops lend a moderately bitter flavor, more-so than most pilsners. It works. Good brew.

draft sample at Indiana winterfest - Pours hazy copper with a small white head. It has earthy and citrus hop aroms. The flavor is similar with the ample hops kick we expect of an IPA and enough malt to make it work well. Good IPA.

tap at Indiana winterfest - Pours medium brown with a small tan head. There’s a caramel malt aroma. Flavor is the expected caramel malt with good roastiness and a robust taste that makes this medium bodied brown ale work well.

draft at Scotty’s in northeast Indy - Pours near black with a small tan head. The aroma is of roast malt and coffee. The flavor is of course roast malt along with chocolate and coffee notes, some good bittering hops and a slightly smoky character. It’s a quite enjoyable brew. Good start for a new brewer.
