Bottle split at Days Inn Suites, Houston Hobby, thanks to James (Jredmond) for the trade, 22/05/13. Pitch black with a tan head. Nose is dark malts, chocolate, woody notes, bourbon evident from the off. Taste comprises light roast, good bourbon twang, dark chocolate, light smoke, brown sugars, molasses. Medium bodied with fine carbonation, sweet woody finish with bourbon notes. Decent stuff with lots of flavour for a ’relatively’ low ABV BA beer.

Bottle thanks a trade! Pours a clear amber with a creamy white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of sweet grains and light fruits with a bit of a boozy backing. Flavor combine booze and sweet grains with a touch of light fruit but a bit heavy on the booze.

Bottle - thanks dmac! Pours opaque black with a large creamy brown head that dissipates very slowly with excellent lacing. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, touch of anise. Flavor is the same, lightly sweet, lightly bitter leading to a bitter mocha finish. Anise present but not overpowering. Medium to full body, creamy mouthfeel, some warming. Quite nice actually, but not among the best.
