Kveldens siste flaske delt med Ovesen mens vørteren oksygeneres: højt skum! Klar gylden. Innbydende humlearoma (EKG, Cascade, og Styrian Golding) med en klassisk tilbakelenthet - ingen agressive toner, bare en fløyelsmyk blomstereng. Superb smak med høy gledesfaktor.

Bottle shared with JMD at HNB 28.10.14. Clear golden. White head and lacing. Fine aroma of orange marmelade and white candy sugar. Refeshing taste and mouthfeel, with similar qualities.

Made at Anders but hauling from a Limburg beer company which ’bakes’ its own malt. Firmly hopped with Kent Golding, Cascade, and Styrian Golding, this is basically a blond thirst-quencher with a stable, off-white head and golden colour with greenish hue, hazy. Aroma of pale malts, grapefruit, grass, peach, apple peel, some DMS (cooked cauliflower). Dried fruity taste, mellow and soft mouthfeel, some malt sweetness, quickly overwhelmed by a leafy, grassy, herbal, long-lasting hop bitterness, enough to classify this as an IPA rather than just another ’Belgian ale’. Tasted from tap at the Gents Bierfestival of 2012, it wasn’t quite there yet, but I have a feeling I have to re-taste and re-rate this urgently.

Bottle from De Hopduvel. Hazy orange colour, white foam. Fruity, apple, pear, lemon. Funky beer. Light sweet, nice tart finish. Easy drinkable. Refreshing. Good!

750 c&c from Star Grocery in Berkeley, CA. Pours dark brown with orange aspects and a smallish beige/tan head. Cooked brown bread? The aroma could be that. Med body, barely. There’s a hint of concord grape, then that burnt malt thing. It comes across grapily fruity and near pumpernickel malty. Pretty dry finish. Kudos for a new taste sensation.

330ml bottle: BBD Oct 2015. Poured at home into a Westvleteren chalice on 24th Sep 2014, sediment and all went into the chalice. Very dark brown to black body, the head a healthy tanned foam covering, the room to dark to tell if the beer was cloudy or clear, held up to the light it was clearly cloudy! Over roasted maltiness hits the nose and then the palate as you take a sip. Burnt notes arrive and drift away as chocolate and coffee flavours replace the initial toasty feel and smells. This is a malty brew with very little hop content noticeable. Fairly dry and bitter it is not for speed drinking, but for a leisurely, slow session of small sips to appreciate the finer things in life. A smoking jacket sort of beer, a coal fire in the winter brew. Very pleasant in deed.

Out of the bottle at Cambrinus. roast and chocolate jump out of the glass for a beautiful aroma. Deep brown with a massive light tan head that lingered. Flavor was complex, with the roast and chocolate dominating, with a silkiness of mouthfeel. I am scoring this high - but this was the beer I had on my last night in Brugge while my Westy 12 got to proper temperature....so maybe it gets an extra 0.3 or so for an awesome time!

Bottle 750ml. corked @ The Danish Ratebeer Summer Gathering 2014, TSODRBSG14. [ As Triporteur Special Roast: Belgian Oak ].Clear medium to dark orange color with a large, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, light moderate yeasty, spicy yeast. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a long duration, fruity malt, floral, pale malt, pale oak, wood notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20140830]
