On tap at the brewery. Clear dark gold. Lacey white head. Nose is Piney and soapy, lightly catty with some dried citrus peel. Light grist and light soap in the mouth, pine and citrus. Dry and bitter. Drinks easier than 8%. 7 4 7 4 13

Cask pour is a translucent dark brown with a nice cap of off white head. Nose has some black tea, malt, a little toast, some butterscotch. Flavor is a bit simpler. Malt and tea and a little brown sugar. Medium bodied. Can. Oured a hazy pale straw color with a small white head. Aroma was tropical fruits, light citrus. Orange, light lemon. At the December DC Ratebeer tasting.

Charcoal black with russet highlights, a bit matte & technically clear. Very pale head on a dark beer. Brown bread, light herbal, cola nose. Big cola & herbal hops upfront. Extra light, brown in toasted bread, very slight char, slight sweetness. Thin & slosh able. Nice.

Bluejacket on a busy rum & coke sorta note. Not hazy, but a jellied & a bit dusty pale gold pour with an average head. Waxy half sweet & cracker nose. Bright, waxy honey floral, euro lager notes, big acid for some reason, slight sweet but finishes a dusty pepper off-dry. Good, if different.

Not quite black, sooty oil brown with a greasy sheen. Thin cocoa head. Sweet chocolate cookie nose, dialed in. Taste is a back & forth of cinnamon & cocoa with a mild vanilla backdrop. I get zero ancho but that's okay. Semi-sweet leaning sweet. Mellow belly warmth. A flour-y & raw sugar sort of texture. Great.

Next up @Bluejacket, where they seem to pour more scotch & soda then beer. Very dark brown, not quite black, weak oatmeal head. Sweet burnt bread nose with a little spice. Roasty, slight char sweetness that lingers, creme, ashy texture & bitterness. Thin, cola acidity, too sharp but very OG.
