The Genesee Brewing Company, based in Rochester, New York, is one of the largest and oldest continually operating breweries in the United States. It was founded by Mathius Kondolf, one of Rochester’s early entrepreneurs, after purchasing the Reisky & Spies Brewery (since 1857), changing its name to The Genesee Brewery.
The Genesee Brewing Company is since 2012 part of FIFCO USA, the largest independently owned beer company in the United States. With a focus on product quality, facility upgrades (including the relighting of the iconic Genesee Beer & Ale sign), conservation initiatives and employee safety, FIFCO USA has invested in the Genesee family of beers, its employees and the community.
In 2012 The Genessee Brew House was created to capture and share with you the long history of The Genesee Brewery - one of the largest and oldest continually operating breweries in America.
From old tasting notes. Deep honey gold color with a small bubble carbonation and a large creamy white head. Decent ale-like malt nose with a hint of sour apples. Initially, a sweet ale-like flavor. Zesty midtaste comes across and leads to a bitter hop finish. Tart bittersweet finish.
Pour is a hazy copper with a small white head. Aroma is a pine hop with a honeycomb malt sweetness. Flavor is more malt and a little bitterness after the swallow. Not a huge sweetness but hot a stand out hop as well. Poorly made IPA.
Pour is a clear golden with a average white head. Aroma is some artificial orange. Flavor is more of a orange dream sickle. They just took regular Gene cream ale and added artificial orange flavor to it. Sometimes you just need a beer to fill out a mix-a-six.
Sample at GROWL! during the "Southern Tier Tap Takeover to benefit Flying Horse Farms!" event on 06/29/2017. Dark brown color with a medium tan head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Small patches of lace. Roast malt, caramel and chocolate in the nose. Light to medium body with flavors of caramel, roasted malt and cocoa. The finish is sweet with a caramel aftertaste. Decent overall.
From the back of Jim’s fridge. Drank straight out of the can but the small bit I poured into a glass was the palest of yellows with a bubbly white head. Wow that is earthy metallic grainy and watery. I shall never drink this beer again.
On tap at the bar across the street from My Airbnb in Schenectady. Crystal clear deep yellow with a thin bubbly white head. Earthy grainy corny notes not the worst beer I had on this trip but far from the best.
