Smooth like a lager. Crisp like an ale. The Cream Ale was one of the first beer styles created in America, and ours has been the style standard since Genesee first brewed it in 1960. Genesee Cream Ale has won numerous awards throughout the years and remains just as smooth and flavorful as it’s always been. It’s a true American original.

24oz can from a random Butchers in Orange County, California. Poured into an old Corsendonk stemmed tulip a few times, at my daughters on 28th August 2025. Golden body, clear and clean, short lived white affair on top. Soft feel to the proceedings, bland overall with a weak malt and hop presence, no expert on Cream Ale's, but this isn't something to write home about. Finished the whole can, but I'll not be seeking out another any time soon.

Notes from January 2011 .99c can from Whole Foods just because I forgot what it tasted like. Just got done with a bigger beer, so I expect this to rightly leave me less then satisfied, but continuing on that familiar path. Rounded pint glass. Shiny, gold, active brew. Four fingers of lather. Smells like steeped grains, minor fruit phenols, aluminum & a touch of table sugar. Odd flash of plastic/clove laced malt in front. Overall taste is very much like soggy white bread. Crust is nicely toasted. No butter. Crispy lettuce. Barely a touch of acidity. Good bubbly. Frothy. More & more cracker through the finish. Pretty clean, that deserves something. You can do better, but it's nice filler I think.

Draft at Genny Brew House. Clear golden, thin creamy head, lively carbonation. Biscuity aroma, grainy, white bread. Taste is grainy, malty, crackers. Creamy feel. High school all over again.

12oz can. Poured a pale golden color with a fizzy, medium sized white head. Aroma was light corn, light malts. Actually not as bad as it may first seem. Light bitterness, touch corn. Light grain. Mild floral hops.

12 oz. can from Downtown Produce. Pours a crystal clear pale gold color with a white head and good retention. Almost no lacing. Skunky malt aroma. Generic Euro lager flavor with just a tiny skunk finish. Relatively smooth and less grainy than a typical lager. Light body. It won't win any awards, but a respectable cheap beer.

12 oz bottle, pale golden clear with slight white head. Medium body. Corn malt aroma with some pepper to it. Mildly bitter grass corn taste with a brief spicy finish. Still an ok, unpretentious beer to drink very cold on a hot day.

Nose of sweet corn, bit juicy, followed by bread, cereal, grassy hops, clear pale golden, minimal head that quickly disappears, hardly any lacing, average carbonation, light sweetness, light bitterness, soft, creamy, fruity, smooth light body and a bit creamy/ buttery, thin feel, watery, sticky, light dry finish.
