Description
Wicklow Wolf was established in late 2014 after the meeting of two likeminded friends with a common interest in good beer. Quincey Fennelly and Simon Lynch both fell in love with craft beer while living in California for many years. Setting up a brewery together was always inevitable.

0,44 l can. Pours brown, dark red hue if you look at it towards light. A couple of fingers of tan, quickly and loudly dissipating head. Aroma of malt, kind of sweet, caramel and herbal nose. Taste is medium sweet and bitter. Body is light, carbonation average. Finish is malty.

330ml can from Beer52. Clear light amber, thin white head, little retention. Aroma is orange citrus and pine. Taste is orange, grapefruit, pine, with a bubble-gum and dry bitterness in the finish. Medium body, smooth with nice carbonatation that coats the palate. Nice but fairly average for an IPA.

330ml can from Beer52. Black with small tanned head. Aroma has the roasted malts, an interesting smokiness but quite sweet also, light berry hint. Taste is malty, roasty, charcoal, blueberries with a dry smoky finish, touch of liquorice. Medium bodied. Good, nice level of complexity.

330ml can from Beer52 subscription box. Cloudy pale gold with small white head which lasts nicely. Aroma of citrus, some zest, peach, pale malt background. Taste has a nice soft sweet fruitiness to it with peaches, grapefruit coming through, some grain-creamy malts. Light zesty bitterness in the finish. Light to medium bodied, nice soft carbonation. Good APA.

Very nice artistic tin. Pours with an initially massive head of 5cm but settles to a persistent 2cm quickly. Looks like a typical juicy. Nice fresh nose: floral, minty, peach, mango. Mouth doesn't match the promising nose however. Carbonation kind of covers everything up. Actually has fair body but hard to classify. Some exotics and mango come through, some spearmint on second tasting. Then herbal, pine. Had to tease out the favours but quite good. Would be a great session beer.

In the glass a nice juicy yellow with intense white clouding. Head with medium dissipation. Intense nose tropical, mango, passion fruit, pineapple, a touch of pear drop / lemon drop sweets. Nice palate and mouthfeel: all of the above with some citrus, grapefruit thrown in for good measure. Nice and well balanced: long lingering taste but not too bitter. Very nice.
