Pours black with a large, lasting dark tan head.Nose shows dark chocolate, resinous hops, oatmeal and wood notes with solid roasted malt backing.Very big, powerful flavours, lots of piney, resinous hops throughout, with cocoa and chocolate fudge showing up only momentarily. Boozy finish, but not over the top or hot.Pretty bloody good but a little over-hopped for my liking.Nice syrupy body, carbonation seems just a little high.

(bottle) Pours clear golden with little head. Lovely aroma - complex floral and fruity bouquet. Medium body with good carbonation. Beautiful foretaste from the hops with the complex and light floral and fruity notes in the aroma. Solid mid-taste with malts balanced with bitterness. However the finish is a bit soft for a beer like this: the hoppy bitterness that shows such promise earlier does not deliver a long bitter finish. Overall a nice IPA: lovely flavour and nose, but room for improvement in the finish. Rated: saturday, december 24, 2011 Edited Feb 2012 for changes to availability

About 13C. Clear dark red with a beige head that is never less than a good coat and leaves lots of lacing. Aroma of toffee, sherry, dried orange peel, pine, mocha. A little obvious alcohol. Oily mouthfeel. Taste is sweet but thoroughly cleaned up by slightly spicy bitterness. There’s toffee and dried fruit, but the extent of the whisky flavours is a surprise given the aroma - although it’s more obvious going back to sniff. Some salt and oak at the fairly boozy end. Half expected the hop aromatics to be jarring, but if they ever were they’ve settled down nicely.

From a 330ml bottle on 10/12/2011. This is apparently a replacement for Murray’s Nirvana Pale Ale, and I seen numerous suggestions this is the same beer and simply relabeled. However, this one has a higher ABV, and it does taste different (albeit similar) to Nirvana. The respective labels indicate that different hops are used (Cascade and Hallertau for Nirvana and Pacifica and Motueka for Angry Man). Pours a deep, fairly clear golden with a small head which disappears quickly. Has a nice sweet aroma, with passionfruit, honey and caramel and floral notes present. Flavour wise, it’s sweet and fruity with some caramel malt evident. Finishes with a distinct hoppy finish. A truly excellent APA from one a few consistently good brewers in Oz.

Bottle. Pale amber with a white head that settles to a coat. Aroma of nectarines, marmalade, lychees. Slightly window-cleanerish. Richer caramel than the old Nirvana, similar tropical and stone fruits, a little more bitterness. Like it a little less than Nirvana when it was in good nick, but does what it says on the tin. [3.5]Sometimes does what it says on the tin. A few murky bottles, the odd hint of cooked vegies and soap. Averaging score.

(bottle) Very dark brown black with no head. Pleasant aroma: fruity with dark roast and peppery notes. Full bodied, oily with lively carbonation. Rich complex flavour - dark toffee with peppery spicy notes and a finish of bitter coffee and dark roast malt. Overall, whilst I am not a fan of porters, I enjoyed this beer.

Bottle, shared at Skyview Tasting, April , 2011. Black and low carbonation. There is alcohol in the flavor and aroma. Also, soy sauce and lots of roasted malt. Chocolate as well. Some sediment, which works well for the palate. Very rich. A good beer
