Panda at home, thanks to the Wingmane, 17/02/21. Lightly hazed amber with a good sized off white cap. Nose is caramel, stewed fruits, light oxidisation, brown sugars, dates. Taste comprises fruit cake, brown sugars, light booze, dates, prunes, toffee. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light kiss of booze. Decent enough BW.

355ml can, drank at Pouakai hut. Pours hazy orange. Dried fruit, orange peel, caramel. Medium body. Really nice. Potentially elevated by the circumstances.

On tap at Brother’s Beer. Pours hazy gold. Brioche, lemon, orange, quite floral. Nice enough. Rerate: 330ml can. Huge amount of passionfruit, lemon, grapefruit, floral, little breadiness. Much better than my initial rating.

Can. Dark brown with a beige head. Spiced mocha aroma with some hazelnut. Lowish carbonation, pretty light bodied. Thinnish chocolate and nuts, bitterness sticks out a bit much at the end rather than emerging. Wanted a little more grunt from the malt side of things.

Can, 10C. Just hazy amber with an inch of white head that lasts OK and laces well. Aroma of gooseberry, grass, mango, light caramel. Light bodied, perfect lowish carbonation. A little bready sweetness, not much caramel at all, lots of Kiwi grassy/ tropical/ citrus hops. Dryish finish with firm bitterness which makes it comfortably avoids the fruit salad -like sweetness of some NZ pale ales. A cheerful, refreshing brew that’s right up my street.
