Tap. Dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of vanilla, dulce de leche, chocolate, pepper. Really milky mouthfeel, low carbonation. Sweet mocha and caramel taste with good vanilla. Spicy and mildly astringent at the end - that high peppery note that comes with vanilla is tingly. Nice balance, the sweetness is taken away well.

Bottle. Amber with a white head that fades to the rim. Aroma is grapey with lemon leaves, pepper, wood. Lowish carbonation - a little more would have been welcome. Sweet with lightly spiced light caramel, lots of grapes, perfumey lemon, vanilla. Woody and slightly spicy finish. The sophisticated touches wanted a more vibrant beer to play under.

Charity brew for the McGrath Foundation. Bottle. Clear rose gold - very lovely - with a white head that faded quickly in a chalice but hung around in a tulip. Aroma of caramel, oranges, cinnamon, cardamon, flowers. Creamy mouthfeel. Sweet with layers of light caramel, some dough, herbal/ medicinal flavours in a drying finish. Alcohol stands out a bit. Quite Christmassy spice prominence, with the pungency of pepperberries in particular creeping up. Good.
