About
In 1872 Friedrich Eder, the founder of the brewery, acquired the brewery and restaurant "Zum Ochsen", which has been known since 1779. This was the nucleus of today's brewery in Grossostheim. In the following decades the company grew steadily.

Since 1999 the Schlappeseppel beers are brewed here.

Recht lasch präsentiert sich das Kristall Weizen von Bavaria. Zwar ist ein fruchtiger, zum Ende hin hopfiger Geschmack zu erkennen, das Ganze ist jedoch zu lasch und reicht für ein gutes Weizen nicht aus. Im Mittelteil ist zusätzlich ein feinherbes Aroma zu erkennen, das im Vergleich zu den anderen Aromen recht stark ist. Süffig, aber lange noch nicht perfekt. Auch in meiner Flasche ist Hefe am Boden vorhanen. Die Zitronenlimonade kommt in gutem Maße zum Vorschein, im Mittelteil mehr, zum Abgang hin weniger und klingt gut und lange aus. Das Bier kommt in leichtem Maße zum Vorschein und ist durchaus gelungen, vergleicht man es mit anderen Biermischgetränken. Als Erfrischung im Sommer gut zu gebrauchen. (bottle) Almost black colour with a ruby shine and a diminishing off-white foamy head. Shy toasted malty aroma with dense notes of chocolate and traces of hops. Dry malty, slightly papery taste, light to medium body, smooth carbonation. Dry and medium bitter finish with a touch of cardboard.

(bottle) Clear and pale golden colour with a short frothy white head. Moderately sweet malty aroma with hops and hay. Malts accented taste, light to medium bodied, crispy mouthfeel, balanced hop bitter finish with a touch of cardboard.

Bottle: Clear, pale golden, thin, but stable foamy white layer; sweet-malty, grainy nose with a tinge of wet paper; moderate bitter flavour with a touch of sweetness; short, bitter, quite dry finish. An average Pils, not unpleasant............

Bottle: Clear, dark amber coloured, mid-sized fluffy off-white head, sticking to the glass; fruity nose with traces of toasted or roasted malt, rather dry bitter (roast-)malty flavour, light bodied; short, slightly bitter/chocolatey finish. O.K., maybe a bit too light, but quite well quaffable........with - that’s true - an almost Belgian character..........

Bottle: Deep amber coloured, thin foamy off-white layer; faint dark-malty, caramelly and alcoholic nose; sweet-malty flavour with a tinge of chocolatey bitterness; quite light bodied for a beer of this strength; sweet finish with a lingering bitterness in the aftertaste. Not unpleasant, but a quite bland and one-dimensional Doppelbock, would be better called "Warsteinerized European Strong Lager"........................

(bottle) Clear and dark amber colour with a ruby shine and a short frothy tanned head. Sweet malty, slightly toasted and shy aroma with a hints of cardboard. Sweet flavour, medium to full body, medium carbonation. Sweet worty taste with toasted malt and caramel. Slim sweetbitter finish, slightly metallic.

(bottle) Clear and pale golden colour with a diminishing foamy white head. Grassy hoppy nose with a vegetable-like background. Medium sweet flavour, medium to light bodied, fizzy mouthfeel. One dimensional initial maltiness, unpleasant gassy bitter finish.

(bottle) Clear and pale golden colour with a short foamy white head. Grassy hoppy nose with a metallic and weak malty tinge. Bitter flavour, light to medium body. Papery malty taste, bitter and grassy hoppy, slightly metallic and thin finish. Not very convincing.
