I checked my rating of the now-defunct Molly Rose Shoulders of Giants (a 7.4% IPA) and I'd said it was disturbingly easy drinking for such a strong beer. That comment certainly rings true for this one. I get pine needles, rockmelon and guava, honey and a little caramel on the nose. The pine needles dominate the tasting, and that alcohol does come through late. Beautiful aroma, good taste.

Can. Dark brown with a beige head that fades to around a cm. Aroma of chocolate, bread (not brioche, leaner), mild citrus, some pepper. Dryish with some roast and licorice as well. Brief bitter finish. A bit fizzy but the balance is nice - although it's curt rather than enveloping.

From a 375ml can on 6/3/2021. Pours a clear light golden with a medium head. The nose is herbal, bready and resiny. The taste gives you sweet and sour citrus against a bready malt background. The hops a very firm, dry and just a touch sour, and linger long. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Certainly interesting, but not really a home run for me. Of course, it might just be the hop.

Can. Gold with a white head. Aroma of oranges, lemon, spices, light biscuit. Sweet and a bit gummy with citrus and spices. A fair bit of body for 3.8%. Doesn't really dry out at all with bitterness that struggles to show. A bit depressing that they think this is the sort of bitter worth making a local version of.

A very well balanced saison. Loads of white pepper, spice, raisins and orange peel. Lots of lemon in the mouth as well. Very enjoyable.

Can. Very pale gold with a white head. Aroma of crackers, hints of biscuit, spices, flowers, some lemon. So it tastes. Light bodied with just a hint of richness before lemon, spices and a fairly bitter finish. Perhaps a little much lemon at first but then it gets quite peppery at the end. A good, forthright pils.

500ml can from brewery. Pours golden and slightly hazy with big white head. Peach and straw on nose. Bliss in a glass. Like sunbeams mixed with unicorn wee all with a refreshing lactic kick. This should be summer go to.

Another Canvent effort. It's a very pale orange. It smells like orange peel. It tastes like bitter orange peel soaked in a sound standard saison. It's at the chinotto end of bitter, and that's a direction that has never appealed to me.

On tap at the Incubator (one keg only). Pours golden. Some straw and floral notes on nose. Dry in mouth. Very clean and refreshing, with enough floral action to keep it fun and funky.

500ml can from brewery. Citrus nose with some straw. Somewhat spritzy initially before calming. Very white grape forward, but with enough funk to make it very interesting. A lovely refreshing hybrid.
