330ml bottle from the Beer Bank, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a lasting frothy tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, light chocolate, liqourice. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a smooth, rich, slightly oily, light floral, light molasses, liqourice bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A solid stout but nothing exciting.

Bottle at the Beer Bank, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a very slightly hazy golden colour with a thin white head. The aroma is light yeast, watery citrus fruits. The flavour is light sour, with a light, crisp, watery, light fruity, herbal, light salty, light floral palate. Light bodied with average to soft carbonation. Really light all round and never got going.

The flavour is moderate sweet, light bitter, with a smooth, malty, treacle toffee, aromatic, herbal, light floral woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Rather tasty and the toffee hangs around for a while.

Bottle. Interesting that I see more of these Kansom beers about town at the moment than Red Duck's own beers. Amber with an inch of off-white head that lasts well. Aroma of light bread, baked peach, gentle but intriguing earthy notes. And there's a richness and an unami rumble on the palate too, but that's as obvious as the exotic additions get. The finish is moderately but decisively bitter. Remarkably robust for under 5% ABV.

Can. Black with a loose inch of tan head. 3+ Roasty aroma with dark sugars, some licorice, slightly smokey and earthy. Pretty full bodied for under 6%. Moderate carbonation. Sweet (mocha and licorice) at first with roasted, earthy, bitter and finally briny notes coming up to match. Complex, involving.

Can. Almost clear pale gold with an inch of white head. Aroma of tangy wheat, minerals, some mild lemony funk. Lightish bodied with just a hint of slipperiness. Fizzy. Dryish with wheat and and salty end. Only slightly tart. A nip of bitterness at the end too. There is a hint of abalone there (both in taste and texture) but it's very subtle - I guess it's supposed to be a marker of luxury as much as anything. Has an elegance about it I didn't expect at all.
