Description

MAR-2020. Virtually clear deep amber, ivory head. Strong rich red cherry syrup, dates and raisins, almost no hops in the aroma. The taste has the same profile, sweet yet with enough spicy / piney bitterness. It finishes a bit abruptly and thin, leaving too little malts, flavour and just some bitterness in the aftertaste. Overall, a very smooth and cleanly done red ale, too bad it lacks a stronger finale. 3,7/5.

JUL-2019. DRAFT at Craft Beer Revolution, Bucharest. Hazy amber, off-white head. Strong rich malts, white and red cherries, raisins. Rich malty taste and a good deal of spicy mouth coating hops. Mostly resembling a good Belgian amber. A good one. 3,7/5.

Bouteille 33cl, BB 18/08/2019 @ Niamey Craft Beer tasting, thanks Madalin. Lot# 1/2019.

Almost opaque deep brown, clear ruby highlights, compact beige head with tone of lacing. The aroma is very subtle but really nice - fresh malts and some fresh dark fruit sweetness - resembles a plum filled pie. No sharp edges, like over-roast malts or honey booze etc. Just like the pale variety, this one has really shy malt sweetness - barely balancing the rest of the beer - which is: subtle tart plum/berry sweetness, generous-on-butter muffins or danish cookies (no, it's not like those crappy diacetyl ladden lagers), light roasty and woody bitterness. Again, like the pale one, super-smooth small bubble creamy mouthfeel (and the butter cookies make it even more so). Pretty unique, and really enjoyable.

Batch 1, bottled late DEC-2018. Almost clear gold, white head with some lacing. The aroma clean and mildly sweet - not like honey, more like generic fruit, cooked fruit. A very faint hint of grassy/woody hop. The taste is medium-dry, again no particular sugar profile, a touch of vegetal acidity, , strong grassy hop bittenrss with just a hint of alcoholic spice. Very clean overall, but lost its early honey / white grape delicacy. 6-4-7-4-14=3,5.

Batch 1 bottled NOV-2018. Slightly hazy bright gold, dense white head. The aroma starts with some fresh (bun mundane) base malts/cereals, but then you get those marvelous Honey and Risling grapes perfume notes - it is not strong, but really nice. The taste is more simple - does not have the honey/white grapes thing (would be a killer if they can get more of those in) - only light balancing pale pale malt sweetness, moderate and smooth but simplistic woody/grassy hop bitterness. And a rather creamy small bubble mouthfeel. It does not have any boozy extra-dry feel that you expect from a high-attenuation fermentable like honey. Super clean and smooth - a good job from a new kid. Very good. 8-4-7-5-15=3,9
