Bottle. Poured pale gold with think white head. Much lacing Faint grass and malt aroma. Very little flavour, a little malt, not much hop, a lot of water. Almost no finish. This is too weak in alcohol, flavour and aroma to be a pilsener.

Bottle. Pour is fairly orange and the head is fluffy and sits around a half finger high. Aromas are sweetish and a little dusty... honey and dough with some grain dust. Flavor is sticky and sweet with a very heavy honey direction. Interestingly, Golden Fleece lacks the astringent alcohol that I find in most Erie brews and I’m finding it more enjoyable for that reason. Still, it comes off as a little thin for the genre.

12oz bottle. Ruby red-brown color. Rich and creamy with an alcohol infused sweetness. Not overly syrupy or hoppy, this one is all rich honey/amber malt and alcohol. I sampled it twice on draft at Max’s and was much more impressed with it then. A pretty decent Wee Heavy,

12oz bottle. Golden-orange colored, with little lasting head. Mild but potent malty aroma. The taste is big and rich, covering the palate in thick sweetness. Slightly yeasty and pungent in the Bock style. A little crisp balancing hops even it out and keep it drinkable, especially at 8.5%. A great Maibock, another well done seasonal from Erie.

Sampled on draft at the Rivertowne Pub this beer poured an orange-amber color with a medium sized orange-white head. The aroma was sweetish fruity and spicy hops. The flavor was dryish, tangy and had a strong floral, fruity, piney and resiny hop presence. The beer sweetened somewhat towards the finish and the finish was long with floral and citric hops. The mouthfeel was moderately thick. The overall hop profile was rather harsh. The hops really lingered forever. Interesting but something did not quite work for me.

Got this special 12 oz bottle brew at the Beer Store in Moon, thanks Frank! Fun bubbly cloudy stuff, like a wheat or hefe but there’s no gunk on the bottom of the bottle. Barely any detectable bitterness. Very enjoyable, even with it’s subdued hints of pilsner bite. Light and friendly with an easy attitude. Nice session brew fer sure. Well done Erie.

Bottle. Translucent gold body with a slight bit of an orange to it. Head is small and leaves a little lacing... pretty unispiring look for an IPA. I was hoping for a touch of hops in the nose... fruity nonsense and sweet sticky sugar notes are dominant. There is a bit of a peppery hops to the flavor, though. Flavor is unbalanced and undisciplined. Alcohol has a a moonshine-like edge to it that I have seen in other Erie products. The rest of the flavors don’t cover it well and it just sits there like paint remover or something. I’m not sure they hit their mark by calling this an IPA. The only thing I can think is that as it warms a bit the hops does take on a slightly resin-like flavor.

Who brought this beer to Eugene’s? - thank you, whoever you are - red beer, with a frothy head - sticky malt aroma, with caramel and cinnamon - overly sweet, with slight spicy notes - slightly doughy - pretty ambiguous all around, with heavy sweetness - a dry peaty character develops as it warms, but still fails to balance it.

So what if I don’t like IPA, I’m allowed to still sample them! It’s a free country. Besides, this makes 100%for the Erie Brewing company for cheap dark. This is a new one from Erie. Pond water aroma of hops but not like clean pine or floral hops. Clear yellow orange with no haze. Yes I dislike most IPA but can identify a good representation of the style. More bitter than the wax from your favorite girl’s left ear. Terrible, rude misery. Yuk triple times over on a logarithm scale. Pungent punishment. Borders on double imperial IPA territory. Bitter medicine lingers for what seems like forever. Perfect example of an IPA! You IPA lovers better seek this out, Erie makes some wonderful brews within their style.
