bottle - Pours light amber with a medium sized head. The aroma is lightly roasted malts with a touch of citrus. The flavor is pretty sweet with a little bit of hops in the background and some alcohol flavor coming through. The body is somewhat thinner than I would have liked though what we end up with is an easy drinking beer for the alcohol content. Decent.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy lemony/straw color with a two finger head. Aromas are wheaty with a little bit of grassy lemon in the background. Flavor is fairly weak... almost watery at first, but then things give way to a little more predictable lemon and grass flavoring. If you’re feeling generous you might find some coriander in there. Ends with a touch of a sweet light malt taste with a touch of yeast. Not a lot of pizzazz and fairly uninspiring. Best chosen to quench a thirst as it is light and refreshing.

I’m always excited to try a new pilsner, especially in the Bohemian style. Light saaz aroma. Flavor is a little sweet for the style. It doesn’t seem to have adjuncts, but good use a little more bite in the flavor. Light hops here as well. Not as good as real Czech pilsners, but good anyway. Gold color and a tall white head. Well carbonated.

Amber coloured body with a very thin white head. Aroma of alcohol, metal, blood, malt and some fresh hops. Light to Medium-bodied; Potent hoppy flavour along with blood and malt. Aftertaste shows a lot of alcohol and some malt but little else. Overall, a strong but decent beer - one to try if you can find it. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 19-May-2007 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Finally I get a chance to taste the Erie Sunshine wit. Let me tell you, I have been waiting a while to get a hold of this. This is a 12 oz brown bottle fresh out of the brewery, just made a couple of weeks ago. Attractive label. Pop the lid and you get a rather barnyard aroma, there isn’t any hints of spice in there like the other wits. It almost smells like freshly cut hay. I think I like this simpler is better aroma. The look is rather cloudy and light, not really any pale yellow in there, more like off or dirty white. Perhaps even vanilla. It has that swirling hypnotizing effect inside the glass if you pour it correctly as with most wits that got the gunk in the bottom of the bottle. Taste is like you are drinking something strained thru wet straw. Boy, this is certainly a rural Pennsylvania experience. Medium carbonation. No detectable bitterness. Well mannered and friendly, hop and impy lovers will not like this brew. Overall, I like this wit. This is a good refreshing brew that has no hints alcohol what so ever. No addtional spices make this easy to take. Friendly and well mannered. Erie brewing has got to be one of the most underrated micro breweries around. This beer is almost as good as Hoegaarden White, Wittekerke or East End Witte. It is much better than Samuel Adams White Ale. Mind you, Belgian White is one of my favorite styles.

Bottle. Aroma is nothing to get even slightly excited about. All I’m picking up is a slightly metallic scent and a touch of sweetness. Pour is a nice brown hue with a minimal head that is almost completely gone after a minute. Flavor is fairly pleasant... it develops from an initial sweet malt presence to a bit of a spicy transition phase that ends with a bit of an alcoholic presence. I’m still picking up some metal in there from time to time... either in the nose or an occasional sip. Body is slighly heavy... not really syrupy, but just kind of thick. I am picking up some fruit presence that others have noted, but it is subtle and seems to get buried between the heavily caramel malt and the alcoholic finish. Ho hum!
