My 100th rating for beers brewed in the District of Columbia. This is the non-barrel aged version of this beer. Cask handpull at the source. Deep clear chestnut brown color, small but thick beige head. Aroma of plums, prunes, dates. Taste is rich smooth butterscotch and dark fruit. Very tasty, good choice for a cask offering, and even better during the one inch "blizzard" in DC that closed schools and wreaked havoc here. Weenies.

Dark brown coloured body with a nice tan head, about two centimetres tall. Aroma of pungent hops with a citrus and piney bite along with some roasted malt and caramel/toffee - nice! Medium-bodied; Strong roasted malt flavours with a very nice balance of hops coupled with some sweet finishes, but a very malty flavour at the end. Aftertaste shows some great complexity with the roasted malt, a hint of light spices and a bit of sweetness balancing out the sweetness. Overall, a nice beer and a good example from the style, especially from a local brewer. I sampled this pint on draught on 30-November-2012 at the Washington location.

Lightish golden coloured body with a thin white head. Aroma of light honey, cardboard,a touch of fruits and not much else, perhaps some metal. Light-bodied; Mild malty flavour with a hint of english hops and a bit of earthiness, but showing some alcohol finishes and quite a bit of cardboard. Aftertaste shows a lot of funky maltiness with not much sweetness and little hops or anything significant. Overall, not such a great beer, and easily passable, since there are much better options there! I sampled this pint on draught at the Washington location on 30-November-2012.

At least when I order 4 more beers the server doesn’t think I’m an alcoholic. That wasn’t the joke you thought I’d use, was it? Draft at the source. Hazy amber color, thick cream colored head. Aroma of freshly cut grass and subtle flowers. Taste is moderately bittersweet grass with a dry finish. Very drinkable. In fact, I really could drink four more.

Tap. This is what I would call an IPL. Pours clear light amber with a small white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is a beautiful mix of grapefruit, pine and pineapple, subdued. Flavor is pine, grapefruit, spruce - no grainy notes typical of standard pale lagers. Medium sweet and a light citric and bitter finish. Light body but a nice silky mouthfeel. Very enjoyable; would be quite sessionable. Too bad it is not more widely available.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours hazy orange with a small off-white head. Aroma is crisp hops fruity, citrusy and grapefruity. Pine, grapefruit and dry malty base. Rather bitter and dry, yet with a light refreshing grapefruity note. Bitter and fruity into the far finish.
