Cask at the brewpub
Black color. Nice vanilla aroma. Nice flavor, smooth, with some roasted malt, sweetness, malt, liquorice and vanilla. Good.

Draught at the brewpub
Blond color. Weak Lager, but at least the flavor is a bit crispy.

A pitch black beer with a slight red shine under a thin brown head. The aroma is a lovely mix of oatmeal and whiskey as well as light hints of roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of oatmeal, as well as medium notes of chocolate, before the whiskey sets in - the whiskey makes it feel almost as if it is burning on the tongue. The warming sensation lasts a long time. The end has hints of wood.

A pitch black beer with a red shine underneath a lazing thin brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of oatmeal and chocolate. The flavor is lovely of oatmeal and a good malt blend which lends it a bit of roastedness as well as chocolate, leading to a coffee bitter end.

An orange beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma is very lightly hoppy - not enough power for my liking. The flavor is sweet with a crisp maltiness combined with fruity notes of oranges and a bit of grapefruit, leading to a bitter fruity end. OK for a British IPA, but it is not American in style - too light.

A dark amber beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet with light notes of nuts - I find it too light. The flavor is sweet malty, but also with a creamy sour milk note - not a brewing flaw, but still a drawback in my opinion. The end is dry and woody with a light bitterness.

A hazy orange-amber beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma is very light with notes of hops and malt. The flavor is very nice with a good toffee and caramel back ground, before a nice bitter citrusy dry hoppy note appears. A nice thirst quencher.

A light yellow beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet with a light note of malt. The flavor is grainy and malty but thin - so thin, that it is not even good on a hot and humid summer day in DC, as I had it.

Sampled from cask during RBSG 2006. Black body with an off-white head. Nutty, with a mild bourbon aroma. Lightly sweet, very thin for style. The thin body disappoints greatly. The flavor is weak and this makes the weak bourbon flavors seem to be more intense than they actually are.

Hazy dull straw colour. Very clovey aroma with hints of banana. Fairly sweet flavour, straightforward in character with candied banana. Sweet malts and a light lively body but too simple.
