Blind tasting at Papsø’s
Dark mahogany color, almost black; medium head. Strange aroma, dusty, corn cobs, light chocolate. It has some chocolate flavor, but also an underlying suspicious sourness, all ending with a bit too much bitterness. Nothing special.

Pours deep brown with copper edges and thin mocha head. I get a full roasty aroma with coffee, roasted malts, earthy organic notes and a bit of charred malts. The taste begins with both sweet malts and a layer of organic-ness. It then quickly turns coffee, burnt malts and a tang of hop bitterness.

Bomber. Poured black with fast dissipating beige head. Aroma of coffee and malt. Rather thin flavour, coffee, malt and roast. Not as full as you would expect from the aroma. Expresso like finish, with burnt toast notes.

Bottle: Dark brown pour with a finger of creamy brown head. Heavy roast in the aroma with plenty of coffee and just a bit of chocolate. Flavor is dry and roasty with a little more coffee and some light bitters. It seems like it could be ash, but there is a ton of heavy roast and a really dry roast/coffee theme here.

Bottle from Bottle Barn. Very dark color with a large tan head. Aroma of coffee. Medium plus body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is coffee, smooth burnt toast, and a touch of sour. It’s very full flavored, but the sour touch towards the finish is a bit odd. No question about the coffee though.

Bottle. Mahogony-brown beer with a small tan head. Big coffee aroma with lots of roast. Lightly sour, roasty, coffee flavor. Medium. Sour and coffee linger with a bit of sweet malt. I actually don’t know if it’s infected or not, but the sour is drinkable and adds a layer of complexity at this stage, but your results may differ.
