We started out in 1996 as a small group of San Diego home brewers who simply wanted to make a better beer. In our exploration, we became obsessed with ingredients—tinkering, testing and tasting to find the perfect balance of taste and aroma. That adventurous spirit leads to award-winning beers in classic and unique styles while challenging our own tastes and expanding yours. We’re proud of our San Diego hometown, our employees, our beers, and our fans. We think of our employees as family, and you, our fans, as extended family. On tap at the Toronado SD. Pours with a hazed golden body and a white head. Aroma of pine, citrus hops, apricot and floral notes. Taste is herbal and citrus hops upfront with caramel and a near candi sugar sweetness. Lively carbonation and a water like mouthfeel. Finishes on the drier side of the spectrum (residual sugars wise).

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of hops and medium notes of elderberries and grapefruits. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of caramel, as well as medium notes of malt, grapefruit, and elderberries, leading to a dry and bitter finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottled at Thrash Zone, Yokohama, Japan. Opaque black, beige fairly coarse head. Milky chocolate strikes first. Near full bodied. Vanilla and chocolate dominates tar, coffee steps in to accompany the vanilla. Mid sweet with long salty finish.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of fordest. Pours a clear black with a warming reddish hue and a dense, light brown head. Fat vinous aroma of roasted malt. Quite full-bodied, hard roasted malts, vinous touches and plenty of dried fruit with an edge of licorice. A lightly malt bitter finish. One of the fruitier and smoother impys. 010509

Pours gold into a shaker. Off-white head with excellent retention craters and recedes leaving sheet lacing. Summer fruit, resin and pine aromas. Crisp and well balanced with apricot and resin from front to back. Dry lasting grapefruit finish.

Tap at Thrashzone. Big round fruitiness. Mellow flavor and mouth feel, with a bit of candy or bubble gum, citrus and other fruits. Complex and lovely with a big flavor and great balance.

Black witha beige head. Coffee, vanilla, roasted malts, light cocoa aroma. Bittersweet chocolate, vanilla, roasted malts, dark fruits, and coffee. Pretty hot on the alcohol. Good though, would have it again.

I found this too be way too sweet. Citrus and grapefruit abound, but the sickly sweet malts proved too much for me. It’s not bad at all, but was hard to down the whole thing. Also, the alcohol was too noticeable for me.

Bronze in color with a nice head. Citrus, lemon, malty, floral aroma. Very balanced flavor. Citrus, floral, pine, grapefruit, light lemon, and some caramel. Medium bodied. Thoroughly refreshing. THis is a mighty fine IPA.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a frothy white head over a hazed golden body. Aroma of citrus, wheat, spice and CO2. Taste is wheat, light rye, citrus, coriander, pepper and orange peel. Fizzy carbonation and a dryish mouthfeel.
