The nose reminded me of some sushi I had once - one with deep fried crab meat sticking out of it. Other than that there are some peachy notes. Amber to orange color, good head which clings to the glass. Very full whiskeylike flavors with a nice yeasty fruityness on top of it. Alcohol peeks through a bit at the top. Exits with a light smoky aftertaste

2013-07-09, 33cl bottle, bb 11/10/14, 7-4-7-4-14=36
Dark brown color. A quite good Strong Belgian Ale, with malt and caramel, quite sweet, some darker caramel to account for the Scotch denomination, low bitterness; it lacks some character.

2003-01-15, corked 75cl, bottled 06-2000, 2 1/2 ys old, 8-5-8-4-15=40
Beautiful hazy amber color, creamy head. Strong aroma of malt, caramel, some cork. Good balance of sweetness and bitterness, age character, but it has aged less well than the Cervoise de l’Avouerie d’Anthisnes (tasted in parallel); a lot of malt; not too much hop.

Bottled 10-1999, 3 ys old. 7.5% ABV.
Beautiful hazy amber color, creamy head. Malt nose, sugar, caramel, wallnuts. Pretty sweet, but the age gives some improved character; a lot of malt, caramel, some wood. The best feature is the harmony of the different tastes, accomplished with the aging.
A very good Abbey ale.

Hazy amber colour, creamy head. Simple aroma, a bit metallic; some malt. Good malty body, rather sweet, some caramel and light roasted barley; alcohol warmth. Nice palate, correctly bitter with some caramel, but missing a sharper hop character.

Super sweet malty aroma with a medium head and sticky lacing. Thick, almost syrupy body that hides the alcohol content surprisingly well. I will definitely try this one again someday.
