Bottle from Beers of Europe, Pours a clear gold, brief fizzy head. Aroma of faint over-stewed apple juice and cardboard Taste is the same, tangy but fairly artificial with chemical notes. Medium body and carbonation, syrupy. Very poor but drinkable

Bottle from Asda, which my daughter wanted to mull but I managed to grab a taster first. Bit of a blast from the past this! When I first started pubbing in the early nineties you generally only found Strongbow or (hopefully) Dry Blackthorn on the bar. Very occasionally you would come across Merrydown, which seemed like quite a treat compared to the other two. I was interested to see what I thought of it nowadays. It's a pale gold cider with a middling fizz. Tastes of sweet dessert apples with a hint of lemon. There's a waft of dry apple skins in the finish. It's quite light tasting and a big thin and watery, but there's nothing unpleasant about it. It's pretty drinkable actually. Better than I expected.

Sample courtesy of Grumbo, cheers Graham! Clear pale golden colour, foamy white head that quickly dissipates and aroma of baked apple, sugary. Taste is sweet, cooking apple, some core, with sugar and slight citric acidity. Medium bodied, light carbonation, sweet tangy cooked apple finish. OK, quite sweet.

14/11/2023. Bottle from Tesco, Martlesham. Pours clear very pale gold with a small short lasting frothy white head. Aroma is sweet, sugary, apple, shortbread. Very sweet candied apple taste. Moderate body, oily, fizzy. Odd sweet stewed artificial finish. Not great.

Spotty beige head on a well carbonated golden coloured body. Sweet apple aroma. Sweet apple, light funk & sweeter on the back with dry finish. Cider innit.
