A 1989 bottle at Heeren van Liedekercke, Denderleeuw, Belgium
Hazy, amber body. Off-white fizzy head. Ok lace. Ok head after all those years. Aroma of liquor, raspberries, some tanines, a lot of white port and higher alcohols. Quite sweet aroma with some complexity. Doesn’t remind me of lambic anymore. Fruity, quite sweet flavour. Quite flat carbonation and a little bit watery. Not so intense, nor very complex. Still it is quite ok after about 20 years.

Cuvée Spéciale; pretty old bottle Bright red beer with slight amber shine; small pinkish head, reasonably stable. Syrupy cherry nose, (not too) sweet cherry bonbons. Some old, definitely oxydized notes as an essence from fruit - but not necessarily for edible purposes. Restrained sweetness; as sour cherries with some sugar added; Can you imagine an aged, home-made cherry jam gone liquid? Not cloying despite a syrupy texture. Way better than I feared. Of course, the age has worked wonders here.

Under the name of Cuvée Spéciale, the very last to come really from the Eylenbosch brewery Slightly hazy, pale orange-amber, small white head leaving rings of lace. Slightly caramelsyrup and a hint of horseblanket aroma; pineapple. Dry-licorice without sweetness, horseblanket/leather flavour. Brown sugar and true lambic underneath. A bit syrupy texture, but with some acidburn. Not the real stuff. Too sweet, too faro-like for me - by far.

Bottle, 1988 vintage, thanks joergen for sharing. Red/brown colour, small white head. Maderiawineish nose, which shows hints of Oxidation (a bit like the Bass King 1902 at RBESG). Flavour is Gueuze meets Madeira wine. Lovely.

Bottled, 1989 vintage (thanks joergen for sharing!). Murky brownish red colour, small off-white head. Just wonderful aroma of sweet cherries. Totally filled the nose cavities (and my head!). Flavour is cherries and dry dark fruits. Lovely thing, considering it’s age!

Bottled vintage 1988, courtesy of joergen. Red color, small white head. Madeira nose, a bit oxidated. Light, fruity, Madeira-wine notes. Bit off-date already, but drinkable.

Draught at Akkurat, vintage 1989, courtesy of joergen. Dark cherry color, small off-white head. Intensive aroma of cherries, very full aroma. Fruity, fresh cherry flavoured, not very strong. You can taste berry stones there. Great stuff for being so old. (8/4/7/3/14 3.6)
Re-rated in 2007 with vintage 1989 in AkkuratA year older now: Sourish fruity cherry aroma. Sourish, balanced, extremely fruity lambic. Light notes of vinegar. (8/4/8/5/17 4.2)
